Review By Halina Wegner

While Heather Little fans eagerly await news of a new album, the acclaimed songwriter has gifted us something equally special: a fresh perspective on her cherished tracks from By Now. The first in a series of five 2.0 versions, ‘Bones’ is a reimagined masterpiece featuring the Irish folk ensemble FourWinds, available now on digital platforms.
‘Bones’ showcases Little’s signature style—introspective and evocative—elevated by the rich textures of FourWinds. Producer Brian Brinkerhoff’s inspired vision invited the group to infuse their distinctive Irish folk flair into the track, resulting in a hauntingly beautiful rendition. The addition of Caroline Keane’s exquisite concertina playing is a standout element, adding a nuanced, dance-like rhythm that complements the song’s darker undertones. Little herself notes, “I was never sure exactly what sounds might complement ‘Bones,’ but this version is perfectly balanced in my opinion.”
The collaborative effort extends to Tom DeLaney and Donogh Hennessy, whose years of musical synergy in Dingle shine through in every note. The result is a lush, atmospheric track that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. Little’s poignant lyrics find a natural harmony with FourWinds’ intricate instrumentation, creating a version that’s as compelling as it is transformative.
Heather Little’s ‘Bones’ 2.0 proves that great songs can evolve in unexpected and enchanting ways. This reimagining sets a high bar for the remaining installments, leaving fans eager for more of these captivating collaborations.
