Tough On Fridays are a growling duo turned trio from Georgetown, Texas who began life as an acoustic duo who became a band who both critics & fans alike say defies description. The bands last album The Encore You Didn’t Ask For brought them their most mature sound yet and this has allowed them to hone their sound which has allowed them to share the stage with the likes of He Is We, Twins, Not Ur Girlfrenz, The Dollyrots, The Accidentals, Paleface & The Texas Hippie Coalition. The band have also played many many festivals which has given them the tools to broaden their sound, fanbase and to bring us growling new music, they are about to drop their growling new single Nosedive which I will be reviewing for you today.
Nosedive – Kicking in the doors from the off comes a growling, sludgy guitar riff that will certainly wake you up in the morning as this dark brooding number kicks in the doors and lets us feel the full force of this awesome 3 piece. The cool funking bassline is hitting us with epic low end grooves that really let the track grow and tell us that the girls are back with a bang, the crunching rasping guitar licks are soaring through the track and giving us attitude, swagger and bags of sass as the girls let loose and hit us with all they have. The rhythm section is coming for us with a pounding snare drum beat that brings in crunching cymbal crashes that just take this track to another place as this track smothers you with it’s intense tones, melodic grooves and killer lyrics as we feel the arrangement wrap itself around us and just smack us straight in the face with it’s intensesound that just builds and builds as the track defies everything in it’s path. This is a track thst will have you reaching for the repeat button as this killer track gives it’s all.
