On a cold, wet evening in Kent, fans braved the weather and made their way to the cozy confines of The Beaverwood Venue in Chislehurst. The anticipation was palpable as we waited for the evening’s entertainment—a performance by Chantel McGregor, a musician I’ve been lucky enough to follow for years. From the first time I met her at Ramblin’ Man Fair, standing on the side of the stage capturing photos, it was clear that she was destined for greatness. Tonight at The Beaverwood, she proved once again why she’s a star.

The night might have started off cold and wet outside, but as soon as Chantel took the stage, the room was alight with energy and warmth. This wasn’t my first Chantel McGregor gig, so I came in with high expectations—and from the very first note, I knew she was going to deliver. Her blend of blues, rock, and storytelling has a way of drawing you in, and this evening was no exception. Chantel opened the night with Take The Power and immediately captivating the crowd with her intricate guitar work and soulful vocals. The audience was hooked from the start, singing along and feeding off the infectious energy of the music. This opening track was a bold choice, showcasing her technical brilliance and setting the tone for what was to come.

She continued with a song that felt particularly fitting on this rainy evening, adding a reflective mood to the room. Chantel’s connection to the audience was evident—not just through her performance but in the way she engaged with everyone between songs, making the show feel intimate despite her larger-than-life stage presence. The beautiful “Eternal Dream” followed then by “Lose Control,” both of which highlighted Chantel’s ability to shift seamlessly between tender moments and high-energy solos. Her voice carried a depth of emotion that perfectly complemented the intricate guitar riffs, creating a dynamic performance that kept the crowd enthralled. One of the standout moments of the first set was “Crazy Little Voodoo.” Chantel’s control over her instrument was mesmerizing, with every note hitting with precision and purpose. It was during this track that the audience seemed to collectively hold its breath, fully immersed in the music.

The emotional weight of the performance was palpable, and the applause that followed was a testament to Chantel’s ability to leave a lasting impression. The energy in the room was electric, with fans clapping and singing along as Chantel delivered one of the most powerful performances of the night. Her guitar solos were nothing short of spectacular, blending technical precision with raw emotion As the night progressed, Chantel brought the crowd to life with “Walk On Land” and Anaesthetise (solo). These tracks highlighted her ability, drawing the audience into the rich narratives woven into her music. The energy was infectious, with the entire room fully engaged and clapping along.
