Review By Darren McIntyre
Hannah Wicklund is a singer / songwriter / multi – instrumentalist originally from South Carolina but now based in Nashville, Tennessee. Hannah graduated high school at 16 and has been on the road touring ever since and has played some 2600 shows which has let her hone her musicality and bring in her strong classic rock influences. Hannah has given us Hannah Wicklund & The Stepping Stones in 2018, The Prize in 2024 & on the 7th March she drops her phenomenal new album Live @ The Troubadour and from that comes the new single Witness which I will be reviewing for you today.
Witness – Cool piano keys bring the track to life as Hannah leans in and brings her incredible vocals that have a real huskiness that just elevates the track to the next level. The rhythm section is coming at us with a real cool punchy snare drum kick that lets the bass kicks control the groove of this incredible track, the setting is just incredible as the place is just lapping up the soulful tones oozing from the stage as Hannah just takes us on the journey with her. We are witnessing(see what I did there) something special from this talented musician as she really rocks out and brings the classic rock feel kicking and screaming to us right now, the bassline is dropping mellow, funk grooves that just let us feel the swagger pouring from this young lady as the track lets us throw our fists in the air and feel the attitude flowing freely right now. This is something special that we are hearing right now and it will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
