Review By Darren McIntyre
Everon are a progressive rock band from Krefeld, Germany who originally formed in 1989. The band have given us 8 studio albums and a slew of singles and although they have taken a hiatus they are back after a 16 year hiatus with their stunning new album Shells. The album has come with sadness attached as with 8 tracks in the drummer suffered a cardiac arrest and sadly passed, the boys decided to push on and continue with this comeback record and recruited Jason Gianni to complete the record. The boys bring us Guilty As Charged which I will be reviewing for you today.
Guilty As Charged – The track opens with a punchy drum fill as the melodic vocals come through and let this atmospheric, symphonic number push through as the tempo wraps itself around us. The boys are delivering a real thought provoking number that instantly transports us to somewhere new as the musicality surrounds us and really lets us feel the emotion wrapped in this awesome arrangement, the rhythm section is hitting us with solid snare drum punches as the double bass kicks rain down on us as this well thought out piece really builds and brings an air of mystery to it that makes it something rather special. The track is a real melodic fist pumping number that brings depth, swagger, attitude as we roll along with this pounding groove that welcomes piano tones that just elevate the track and really give it some sense of belonging. We get a slick, melodic guitar solo that just lifts the tempo of this cool composition as the boys settle back into the groove with their signature tone that is just phenomenal.
