North East England’s Rare Breed is back with Psycho (Will To Survive), out March 14th, and it’s a full-throttle ride through emo, hardcore punk, grunge, and metal. Formed in 2019 while still in secondary school, this four-piece has honed their sound into something raw, rebellious, and impossible to ignore.
Alex Mockler’s vocals cut through like a blade, shifting between vulnerability and rage, while Jack Cowell’s guitar work delivers blistering riffs that drive the song forward. Nero’s bass and backing vocals add weight, and Patrick Kilcullen’s drumming keeps it all tight yet chaotic in the best way possible.
Produced by Cowell and Steven Bardgett, with Bardgett also handling mixing and mastering, the track captures the intensity of youth, defiance, and survival. If you’re looking for a song that feels like a punch to the gut in the most cathartic way, Psycho (Will To Survive) is it.
