Another fantastic evening at the Tuesday Night Music Club! This week’s performers, the Gary Fletcher Band, once again delivering an outstanding night of live music. I last saw these guys in May 2023 when they played this very venue, and just like before, they treated us to two incredible sets, each with its own distinct energy and style. The first set was a masterclass in gentle, blues-infused storytelling, filled with soulful melodies and intricate musicianship that had the audience captivated from the very first note.

The second set, in contrast, turned up the intensity, bringing a rockier edge that had the crowd completely engaged, tapping their feet, clapping along, and ultimately rising to their feet for a well-deserved standing ovation. Their performance was, as always, top-tier—polished yet passionate, showcasing their sheer love for music. I’ve been fortunate enough to catch Gary and the band on multiple occasions—at the Colour House Theatre a couple of years ago, and even further back at The Bull in Barnes I believe .

No matter where they play, they always bring the same level of enthusiasm, professionalism, and undeniable talent to the stage. You can tell they’re seasoned musicians who have truly seen it all and done it all, yet they still play with the energy and joy of a band that just loves performing. The lineup featured Gary Fletcher himself on guitar , banjo, and vocals, alongside the immensely talented Sam Kelly on drums, Alan Glenn delivering masterful harmonica work, Tom Leary weaving beautiful textures on the fiddle and Mandalin, Andy Billups holding down the groove on bass, and Nick Ritchie adding extra depth and richness on guitar.

Every one of them brought their A-game, proving yet again why they are such a respected and admired group of musicians. Of course, no review of the Tuesday Night Music Club would be complete without a mention of the fantastic people behind the scenes. Ross and Martin ensured the sound was spot-on all night, Richard Dunning kept the evening running smoothly with his great hosting, and the ever-friendly bar staff made sure no one went thirsty.

The return of baps and the addition of cakes to the menu was a welcome addition—because what’s better than great live music paired with a drink and a snack? All in all, another truly special night at TNMC. If you ever get the chance to see the Gary Fletcher Band, do not hesitate—you’re in for an unforgettable experience.
