Jack Hutchinson , Phil Wilson and Greg Smith formed a monster of a hard rock power trio that erupted and sent down molten hard rock. Jack has grown into the role of frontman and shapeshifted across the stage making the set visual as well as aural.
A bruising engine room groove, riff hungry Telecaster sonics and Jack’s bourbon soaked voice got the set off to a thundering start. That furious pace was maintained during the trio of songs that opened the set. No excess fat here, lean mean drum and bass lines, urgent writhing riffs punched around the growling vocal. Running On Empty had Jack switch weapons to a Les Paul and he chopped out those big fat Gibson lead breaks dropped on to the throbbing grooves with the addition of a rough hewn vocal.

Road To Hell was an absolute riot of sounds as Phil and Greg dialled in together, giving Jack a platform to stun with the Telecaster in hand hitting the effects pedals creating sustain before cutting to a searing solo then stepping in toe to toe with Greg trading licks while Phil just kept sending out metronomic drum patterns. Jack then reached into his back catalogue and gave us the rhythm and riff hungry Deal With The Devil that baseline giving Jack a platform for an edgy threatening vocal.

The trio dialled back a bit with Jack leading the way with strummed licks, locked out rhythm that Jack then splintered with a tearing solo in the atmospheric I Will Follow You that allowed us to join in on the chorus. The band brought another superb set to a close with the aptly entitled Overdrive, the trio locked out together laying down vivid pathways of sonics with Jack splintering more searing licks from the frets. We wanted more, the guys wanted to play some more so they sent down Call Of The Wild in its loud uncompromising style and as the last notes slipped away we rose to give the guys a deserved standing ovation.

I absolutely loved this gig and if you look up the remaining dates and you are in reasonable distance get yourself there!
