AMY MACDONALD SHARES THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR ‘IS THIS WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR?’ WATCH IT HERE / LISTEN HERE NEW ALBUM ‘IS THIS WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR?’ TO BE RELEASED ON JULY 11TH PRE-ORDER / PRE-SAVE HERE ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF MAJOR UK & EUROPEAN TOUR INCLUDES AN ARENA SHOW AT GLASGOW’S HYDRO ![]() Amy Macdonald’s gift for crafting positive, uplifting songs from relatable stories of triumphs, struggles and hope have made her one of the UK’s most beloved artists. That talent has attracted a huge audience, leading to five albums which have gone Top 5 across Europe (including a #1 in the UK and two in Germany), with over 12 million sales, 12 international Platinumcertifications, and over a billion streams. She’s a consistently huge draw in the live arena too, having played to more than 5 million people worldwide. Last week Amy announced she will release her sixth album, ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’, on July 11th via Infectious. The record was launched alongside its lead single and title track, and today she shares its official video. Watch it HERE. The video sees Amy embark upon a psychedelic, escapist road trip. Blending dramatic live action with handmade, collage-style animation, the visual subverts narrative traits that recall ‘Thelma and Louise’ and ‘Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas’. It was directed by Jackson Ducasse (Dua Lipa, Calum Scott). Watch it HERE. Amy says “I’m so thrilled with the response to my new song, totally bowled over with all the support. To me it’s the perfect road trip tune – so join me in the music video for a wee drive!” The album announcement was accompanied with a premiere on Scott Mills Radio 2, and further support followed from Absolute, Bauer Hits, STV, BBC Scotland, The Sun, Daily Star and more. Amy then surprised delighted shoppers on Friday with a pop-up performance in Glasgow City Centre drawing in a huge crowd in Princes Square and creating further anticipation for the release of ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ on July 11th. Amy also confirmed details of a major UK and European tour which includes a huge homecoming arena date at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, with general sale opening 10am tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th. ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ is a bold new collection of songs that will remind the world of just why they fell in love with her in the first place. Amy holds nothing back in songs full of cathartic release and escapist energy. Simmering with her undefeatable spirit, the topics she explores are born from experience, both first hand and by witnessing other people’s struggles, spanning toxic friendships, feeling trapped in relationships, and daring to break away from the pressures of social expectations. Survival, and the idea of moving forward, prove powerful throughlines on the album. There’s also an appreciation for the fans whose dedicated, enduring support makes all of this possible. Amy says, “I feel very lucky to be in the place I am now. I’ve got this career, good friends, my family, and people still seem to want to hear my music, which is great. There’s a realness in me, something raw – honestly I’m winging it most of the time.” Amy will also be playing a series of major festival sets, including the Isle of Wight and the Neighbourhood Weekender, as well as further shows in Germany and Switzerland. The full list of live dates across UK, Ireland and Europe are listed below. In addition to digital formats, ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ will be released on black vinyl and CD from Amy’s official store, while Amazon has an exclusive signed Deluxe CD.
