A Little While Goes a Long Way – Hearts + Souls Light Up the Brit Rock Scene”

Jace Media Music Single Review by  Emiko Taylor

With swagger, soul, and unmistakable British grit, Hearts + Souls return with their brand-new single Little While, out Friday 9th May—and it’s a belter. If you’ve been craving the kind of rock ‘n’ roll that feels lived-in and honest, this track ticks every box and then some.

What started as a lockdown project for frontman Luke Smithson has now exploded into a fully-fledged rock outfit that blends classic sensibility with modern edge. Think Stones-style looseness with a punch of youthful fire. The chemistry between Smithson and fellow guitarist Tom Q Cusic is undeniable—decades of playing together means they lock in like Richards and Wood, weaving guitars with a lived-in groove that feels effortless.

“Little While” is a song that aches in all the right ways. With gritty, melodic guitar lines, an emotive vocal delivery, and lyrics that hint at longing and redemption, it’s a track made for late-night drives and early morning regrets. The rhythm section—Alan Sullivan (bass) and Jimmy Milne (drums)—brings both muscle and finesse, keeping things tight while letting the song breathe.

This is more than just a new single—it’s a mission statement. Hearts + Souls are proving that authentic British rock ‘n’ roll isn’t just alive—it’s thriving.
