Jace Media Music Single Review by Glen Parkes
London’s heavy-hitters The Fires Below return with a brand-new single, “The Crows Can Wait”, and if there were ever doubts about their staying power, this thunderous track cements them firmly as a band refusing to back down. Fronted by the unmistakable growl and grit of Smithy (Vocals/Guitar), alongside Si (Bass), Del (Drums), and Sam (Guitar), this four-piece continue to bulldoze their way through the UK rock scene with explosive force.
Hot on the heels of their impactful singles “Normality” and “Out to Destroy”, “The Crows Can Wait” is a brooding and aggressive offering soaked in menace and urgency. From its grinding riffs to its pounding rhythm section, the track surges forward with clenched fists and a middle finger raised high. There’s a deliberate sense of unease here—like something lurking beneath the surface, about to snap.
Lyrically, the band dig into themes of pressure and survival, delivering them with spine-tingling precision. Smithy’s vocals are raw and commanding, full of both fury and focus, while the guitar work is dense, dark, and unrelenting. It’s the kind of track that feels like it was made for a live crowd—sweaty pits, raised fists, and screaming catharsis.
There may not be a music video yet, but honestly, “The Crows Can Wait” doesn’t need one. It paints its own vivid, chaotic picture through sound alone.
The Fires Below aren’t just knocking on the door—they’re setting it on fire. And we’re here for every scorched second.
