Review By Glen Parkes
Listening to Lynn Miles’ new EP feels like sitting in a small room with someone who’s lived a lot of life and isn’t afraid to talk about it. Even though she’s released loads of music before (this is from an artist with 17 albums, which is kind of crazy), this EP doesn’t feel tired or old. It actually feels fresh, like she’s starting a new chapter.
Lynn Miles has been around for a long time, especially since her album Slightly Haunted back in the 90s, but this EP sounds like it matters right now. Her voice is really warm and calm, and it makes everything she sings feel believable. It’s not flashy or loud, but it doesn’t need to be. The songs feel personal, like she’s telling you stories she’s thought about for years.
What stands out most is how honest everything feels. You can tell she’s been through a tough time, especially with her tours being cancelled for so long and life just getting in the way. But instead of sounding sad or angry, the EP feels hopeful. There’s a sense of new energy, like she’s found inspiration again and wants to share it.
Musically, it fits into that Americana and folk style she’s known for, but it’s easy to listen to even if you don’t normally listen to that kind of music. The melodies are simple but stick in your head, and there’s even a bit of humour in places, which makes it feel human and not too serious.
Knowing she’s coming back to tour Europe in 2026 after six years away makes this EP feel even more special. It sounds like someone who’s excited to be back, playing music again and connecting with people. Overall, it’s a really comforting EP, and it feels like a quiet comeback done the right way.
