The Wild Things are an Alternative / Indie Rock band from West London and consist of Sydney & Cameron White, they recruited recruited Rob Kendrick & Pete Wheeler and have been active since 2012. 2015 sees the band bring us EP You Know That New Sound You’ve Been Looking For, 2016 brings EP Devil’s Witness which sees them pull their influences from the likes of Beach Boys, Foo Fighters by the way of a Weezer pop – tinge, the bands recent output Afterglow sees them throw in a rockier, dirtier groove by the way of Smashing Pumpkins, Band Of Skulls via Wolf Alice. The band head out on tour and tonight they park the bus in the heart of Glasgow @ Nice n Sleazy so please ready yourself for a blistering rock n roll show like no other, the place is filling up nicely as the band saunter through the doors ans slip onto the stage to a rapturous welcome as Sydney bellows out Glasgow how the fuck are you doing which brings a huge cheer from the crowd, the band amps up, checks their mics and off we go with opener –

Only Attraction – Acoustic strumming guitar rings out as the pounding rhythm section leans in and gets this foot stomper off the ground as Sydney lets her smouldering vocals lead the way. The band seem really in tune and tight as this fantastic opener really grabs our attention as the cool low end brings a dirty, dark grroving bass tone that just gets us in the mood, the vocals are clean, crisp as we feel the full energy oozing from this 5 piece as the get our juices flowing. The cool double guitar licks are really letting the track shine as Rob bounces around the stage with his killer blue hair and striped jeans as the band lets us know that they are back and boy don’t we know it, this is a new band to me and I must say that I am mightly impressed with what I am seeing so far, the place shows their appreciation with loud hollering, thunderous claps and a real fondness for this cool music outfit, we roll into –

You’re Really Something – A crisp, gritty guitar tone fills the air as the band goes through the gears and brings us this cool, punchy indie inspired rocker track that punches us straight in the face. The rhythm section is commanding the groove from the back of the room as the snare drum punches echo all through the venue as Sydney lets her killer vocals wrap themselves around this punk- esque inspired beast get our feet stamping as we feel the energy oozing from this fiery, punchy 5 piece as they whip up a frenzy on a Tuesday night right here in Glasgow. The sound is just awesome as they as so in tune and really give it to us straight as this short, sharp blistering beast hits all the right notes, we stroll into –

Skin & Bones – The gritty, rasping guitar tones flow from the stage as Sydney lets her soulful vocals echo all through the venue as we stand and watch this epic gig unfold as the pounding drum beats hit us straight in the face. The chemistry between the band is just awesome as she flirts wildly with Rob as they lean back to back and this brings a huge cheer from the crowd, we get cool snare drum taps that control the beat that is flowing effortlessly through this fantastic arrangement. The addition of mellow, blues filled keys really elevates this number somewhat as it just allows the track to open and really show us what this band are all about, Sydney thanks us for coming out on a school night to spend our hard earned cash on a band from London and we shout back your welcome, we roll into –

Paradise – Sydney tells us that we are getting into the show now as this is a real favourite of hers, a killer bass kick brings the rhythm section into view as the snare drum punches grab our attention as the dark, brooding low end hits us with a real funk laden groove. The whole track is a walk through your mind as the band really digs deep and tells us their story as we get sucked into the story of this killer outfit as they really drop the hammer and let us have their all and then some. The tempo is a real sombre affair as the bass kicks really drag you into this epic vocals driven rocker track that has us stamping our feet to the real infectious groove as the slick, crisp guitar licks give the track a real gutsy feel, Sydney brings the tone down as she asks us who has seen them before and she gets a fair few hands as the tempo changes gear and hits us straight in the face with a real crunchy, pounding beat that is just awesome, we catch our breathe as we stroll into –

Lay On, Take Off – A nice, sweet, crisp guitar lick wanders through the opening riffs as the snare drum taps let the rhythm section come at us with real depth. The smouldering vocals really let this track shine as we feel the emotion oozing from Sydney really opens up as we get killer Hammond style keys that just allow this track to kick in the doors and really let this band take us on the journey with them, the funking low end is really hitting us with dark, mellow grooves that wrap themselves around this toe tapping, indie inspired piece that just grows on you. The band are smiling from ear to ear as they deliver a no – nonsense, well presented set that just lets you lick your lips in anticipation as to what the rest of the set will bring. The tracks are short, sharp, emotional and really grab your attention as we crash into –

Trippin – Rob is shouting out to the crowd as they deliver another tasty, groove related number as the bass kicks again fill the room with their dirty, full on beat. Sydney lets her soulful, oozing vocals let this track breathe. The addition of the keys is just awesome as we feel the groove wrap itself around us as this toe tapping, punchy number catches us unaware, Rob is bouncing around the stage and really enjoying himself as this cool crowd really gets into the whole deep meaning of tonight’s show, this is a real gritty, rocking number that has cool, dark basslines running freely through the number as the twin guitar assault really lets this track fly, coming at us next –

Two Heartbeats – Sydney grabs the mic and tells us a story of how these songs mean so much to the band when they wrote them, the cool bass kicks combine with snare drum taps that really lets this track show it’s raw, emotional side. The place is silent as the band really takes us on the journey with them as they lay themselves bare as Rob joins in on backing vocals to really give this track some meaning, the pure innocence of the track draws you in as the band really lets themselves be vulnerable as the soulful, melodic vocals really hit the spot as we are swaying from side to side as the track slowly fades, next –

Better Off Alone – Acoustic strumming chords let the track breathe as we get cool keys littered throughout the opening chords as Sydney leads the attack of this killer number. Bass grooves are hitting us with dark, mellow tones as this fantastic track builds with ease as the band are really giving us everything tonight for sure, the place is just staring at the stage as this 5 – piece really settles into their stride and gives us all they have tonight in this short, emotional piece that really tugs on the heart strings, we move onto –

Valentine – Sydney tells us we are moving back to rock world now as this punchy, rock inspired groover kicks off and really brings the gutsy beat that we have so craved. The snare drum punches rain down on us as this killer track brings depth, attitude, emotion and real groove as we return to the fold and feel the energy pulsing through the track, we get a full on bass kick that works so well with the low end bass groove that just flows effortlessly through this real melodic number. We are singing along to this cool toe tapping number as we are just letting the band lead the way as they power through some of their most iconic hits which is just awesome, the chemistry on stage is just incredible as they are so in tune and really let us feel the story as it unfolds, we are hurtling through the set as we come to –

Come Around – Guitar licks combine with a pounding bass kick as Sydney lets her melodic vocals lead the way as we ready ourselves to cut loose and really get into this killer outfit. The rhythm section gives the track some depth as we feel the energy pour from the stage as the snare drum punches kick on through as the killer low end drops in and hits us with a real deep groove that just gets the feet moving, we are being treated to something special from this band tonight as we punch the air and feel the rhythm wrap itself around us as this awesome 5 piece tell it like it is. The slick, clean guitar riffs are filling the air as the band goes through the gears and gives us what we came for tonight, a right good time that has just what the doctor ordered tonight, as we hurtle through the set we roll into –

Make Your Own Way There – A nice little snare tap brings the track to life as sweet piano tones are littered throughout the opening as a full, dark, meaty bassline comes in and really lets the track breathe. The smouldering vocals are just awesome as they allow the track to come at us as we feel the emotion pulsing through the track, the crisp, sweet mellow grooves catch our attention as the track slows down the tempo as we catch our breathe and feel the magic oozing from the stage. The place is fixed on the stage as the band just takes us on the journey with them to really feel the depth of their togetherness. The tempo changes pace a little as Sydney really delivers a well thought out, personal vocal assault whilst jumping around the stage and giving us a real show tonight, we are really feeling the groove tonight as we move into the business end of the show and stroll onto –

I Can’t Wait – We get a cool, punchy beat with added synth tones as this foot stomping groover comes at us as we get into the beat as Sydney lets her vocals come at us. The rhythm section is bringing a real meaty, punchy groove as the snare drum kicks let the track come to life as a funking bassline drops in and gives us a real gutsy, dark beat that is just awesome, the twin guitar picks are working so well as Rob steps up and hits us with a slick, crisp solo that has energy, groove and plenty of soul as weong to this real infectious pop – esque number. The place is bouncing as the band just drops in with the cool, punchy rocker tracks that are littered with the soul searching ballad style tracks that just put a smile on your face, next up –

Heaven Knows – A cool gritty rocking guitar riffs oozes from the intro as the rhythm section leans in with a meaty, snare drum punch that instantly brings the track to life with it’s catchy tone. The cool Hammond style keys really lift the tempo of this fantastic number as we groove along to the indie inspired rocker track that is just taking us to another place as Rob slips in with his cool rocking blue hair and just rocks out, the dark, brooding bassline hits us as the tone builds as the rhythm section pumps up the volume with it’s cool beat and fantastic tone. The vocals are just crisp, clean and really let the track sing as we let the tempo change course as the tone builds with a real ease as we stroll into –

Knock Down, Drag Out – The guys are really knocking out the tunes(see what I did there) as the groove intensifies with a fast, furious groove that gets the toes moving as the track crashes into Nice n Sleazy with a real point to prove. The bassline is hitting us hard with a real sultry tone that delivers dark, delicious grooves that wrap themselves around this thundering piece, the snare drum punches are on point, sharp and really give the track direction, depth and bags of attitude, the vocals are really giving the song a real function as we are drwn to Sydney and her colossal stage presence let me tell you, the tempo changes pace and really ups the anti as the band are really firing on all cylinders right now, we hurtle into the last track of the evening with the impressive –

Drunk Again – Sydney tells us that we have been an awesome audience as she tells us that there is one song left that brings a lot of boos from the crowd. Sydney’s vocals fill the venue as we sway along to this killer track as the cool Hammond style keys lean in and really give the track depth. The rhythm section is coming at us with sheer bravado as it hits us with solid snare drum punches and cymbal crashes that fit the tempo of this indie inspired rock track that has us all rocking along with this high energy, groove inspired band that has certainly entertained us with their killer vibes.The keys are flowing freely through the track as bass kicks rain down on us as the rhythm section cuts loose and brings the heat with this anthem inspired beast that is just the perfect way to finish off tonight’s entertainment.
