The Sheepdogs are a Southern / Blues rock band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada who originally formed in 2004 and were the first unsigned band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. The boys have had a career featuring multi – platinum album sales and also are the recipients of 4 Juno awards, the boys have given us Trying To Grow in 2007, The Sheepdogs Big Stand in 2008, Learn & Burn in 2010, The Sheepdogs in 2012, Future Nostalgia in 2015, Changing Colours in 2018, Outta Sight in 2022, Live @ Lee’s in 2022 and they have just dropped their epic new release upon us Hell Together. To celebrate the new album the boys are on the road and tonight they stop off @ Oran Mor in Glasgow to bring us a rootin tootin nihjt of Blues filled Southern rock that will certainly get those feet moving, as you expect the place is rammed to the rafters with fans eager to dance and sing the night away with these boys from Saskatchewan, the lights dim and the house PA rolls their intro music as they walk on the hallowed stage and kick off with the fabulous –
Find The Truth – Coming at us is a cool cymbal snap that erupts into a blues filled country hoe down as the place comes alive with soulful mellow vocals that really get those feet moving. The slick, clean guitars ripple through the venue as theboys drop in and give us what we came for, a good ol night of slick well oiled guitar playing that brings a dark, brooding bassline that just wraps itself around this fantastic toe tapping track that is certainly a nice way to open your account right here in the heart of Glasgow as we stroll into –
Down Town – A crunching guitar riff wanders onto the stage as the boys pick up and bring us this soulful rock ballad that has sweet harmonies rolling through the intro as the boys change up the tempo and hit us with it. The rhythm section is commanding the room with cool solid snare drum beats that bring in cymbal snaps that just allow the track to grow, we get cool keys that just blend right in with the southern groove that is filling Oran Mor tonight. A guitar solo popsn up and really lets the crowd feel the energy oozing from this award winning outfit as they bring the best they have to offer to the fine folk of Glasgow, the place is really showing their appreciation as the boys stroll into –
Let Me In – Ewan chats with us and thanks us for coming out to rock with him and the boys as we drop straight into this foot stomping rock n roll groover that brings a chorus of chants from the boys as they get us all movin and a groovin. The cool meaty bassline is hitting us with a real dark beat that mingles well with the soaring vocals that are coming at us right now, the slick, clean twin guitar lick is just wonderful as the place is surely appreciating the these boys and the swagger that is coming from this classy track. The mellow timeless vocals are just flowing effortlessly through the venue as we bop along with the boys as they groove and jive right through the heart of Glasgow tonight, coming next –
Bad Lieutenant – A cool sludgy riff oozes from the stage as the boys bring down the tempo as this dark, grooving track builds as we feel the depth of this soaring arrangement that just grabs your attention. The sultry, dark bassline is handing us a real cool groove that works so well with the keys that are littered throughout this toe tapping blues explosion that just keeps giving and giving. The rhythm section brings a bass / snare drum beat that has cymbal snaps that let the groove flow freely through this smooth mellow arrangement, the tone is delicious as we lose ourselves in this funky beat that is just on the money. The vocals are smooth, melodic, soulful and really capture what these voys are all about as we just sway from side to side with cool, slick guitar licks that really get the feet moving as the boys really come together and let their musicality do the talking, up next –
How Late, How Long – Ewan shouts out all right here we go as this thigh slapping country rocker hits us with a sweet clean guitar groove that just ticks all the boxes as the boys turn up the heat. The rhythm section is coming at us with a sweet punchy snare drum kick that lets the bass beat combine well with the subtle cymbal snaps that really let this track move, the awesome keys are hitting us with a nice melodic groove that really gives this track depth, swagger and loads of groove as we feel a slick, cool guitar solo ripple through the venue as the boys drop the hammer upon us as this toe tapping groover leavesit’s mark on the fine people of Glasgow tonight, we stroll into –
I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be – Ewan counts the boys in as this sizzling rock n roll groover unfolds and really delivers a crunching guitar riff that allows the place to come to life. This is one of those toe tapping groove tracks that just allows you to feel the energy oozing from the stage and makes you wanna freak out and let yourself go as the boys just drop the hammer with this slick, cool arrangement that ticks all the boxes. The killer Hammond style keys ripple freely through the track as we get a sultry guitar riff that accomanies the soaring melodic vocals that are filling the venue right now, up next –
Now Or Never – A cool guitar / rhythm section combo oozes from the stage as this toe tapping tempo driven groover comes at us and really lets the tone fill the place as we tap those toes and get into this awesome number. Hell Together – A nice cool soft intro eases in the track as mellow Hammond style keys make themselves known as a blues groove wanders effortlessly through the track as the boys show us their softer side. The harmonies that are hitting us a real nice as the boys tell their own story as the rhythm section comes in with a solid snare drum beat as the dark, brooding bassline hits us with epic funk tones as this toe tapping groover really opens up. The killer keys are littered throughout the arrangement as the place gets into the groove with the boys as a sweet clean guitar lick hits us and really delivers a nice tone that just gives this gig a real special feeling, the place is buzzing with excitement as the boys are taking us through their impressive back catalogue that is a gift that keeps on giving, up next –
Darlin Baby – A nice acoustic strumming chord wanders into the track as we get mellow, soulful vocals that really wrap themselves around this cool country track that will take us to somewhere new. The rhythm section is kicking in with a nice soft snare drum beat as the cymbal snaps control the direction of this fantastic toe tapping arrangement that is just flowing freely through Oran Mor as it takes us on the groove train that is just awesome. The bass is handing us a cool, full on groove that is handing us delicious notes that mix so well with the lap steel tones that are mingling through the track, we are being treated to something special here tonight as these boys are laying themselves bare for us to see tonight, we are clapping and hollering loudly as we are just feeling the depth and tone coming from the boys tonight, coming at us right now is –
Scarborough Street Fight – The rhythm section leans in with a real punchy snare drum beat as the bass kicks let the track breathe as the boys drive their juggernaut straight at us with this growling beast that is coming straight for us. The vocals are handing us a real gravelly vibe that works well with the cool twin salvo that is oozing from the stage right now as the boys raise the bar and really hit us with all they have, we are soaring through the setlist and feeling the groove as the boys have taken us to new places with their infectious foot stomping Southern / Blues music that is just awesome. The place is fixed on the stage as the boys deliver a well thought out set that has something for everyone and that’s how these boys roll, next in the firing line is –
I Don’t Know – A real bluesy sludgy guitar riff opens the track as a dark, full on bassline drops killer funk tones all through the intro as this fantastic track makes itself known to us. The mellow blues vocals are taking the track onwards as we get to grips with a real gritty foot stomping guitar lick that is working so well alongside the cool rhythm section as it pounds away and brings a real crisp tone to the track as the mellow keys flow freely through the mid section and let us sing along to this groover track that is just bringing smiles to everyone’s faces and that is worth it’s weight in gold let me tell you, Sam is giving us an impromptu drum solo as he thunders away, as we near the end of this cracking set we roll into –
Nobody – The toet tapping tempo continues as the boys hit us with a real hoe down classic that brings in crisp guitar riffs that are running alongside a cool rhythm section that brings a snappy snare drum punch. The cool mellow vocals are driving the track onwards as the boys lean in with their backing tones that lets the cool arrangement take control as the keys wander effortlessly through the track and instantly elevate the groove to another level. The slick clean guitar licks are evident as the boys just take the bull by the horns and bring us a real nice funky track that is laden with clean guitar tones that instantly build into a real groove that has us tapping our toes and throwing our horns in the air as we feel the punchy groove oozing from the stage, the boys do their obligatory lets leave the stage and wander back on as they dive straight into the classic –
Roughrider 89 – A funky cool rhythm beat tumbles from the stage as a dark, brooding bassline comes at us as this groover makes itself known to us as a sweet guitar lick comes at us. The boys have given us a real treat tonight as they have brought their A-Game to Glasgow tonight as this hoe down track brings a full on beat that gets us movin and a groovin as we feel the energy coming from the boys tonight, the bassline is hitting us with a sludgy groove that wraps itself around Oran Mor tonight as the boys just show us their mettle with this stop start track that brings in epic guitar tones that build and build as we holler, stamp our feet and really get into this awesome song that is a perfect way to end a hot, sweaty, fun show as they drive into the last song of the night in the form of –
Feeling Good – Sizzling guitar riffs are hitting us as the boys bring us a real doozie track that drops the hammer with a mellow bassline that allows the track to open and soar. The rhythm section is commanding the room with a punchy snare drum kick as the cymbal snaps follow on and let the track bring smiles to us all tonight, the place is just standing watching the stage as these 5 country boys deliver a real soul searching punchy set that is just a real nice way to spend a Monday night and letting us know it’s ok to lose yourself in their groove. This has been a real cool way to spend a night dancing and singing to this incredible outfit that just kept bringing the heat and not letting us forget it.
