Filth Is Eternal – Long Way – Single Review – holdtightpr

Review By Darren McIntyre

Filth Is Eternal are a punk/metal rock band from Seattle, Washington, who have grabbed us by the scruff of our necks with their latest release, Long Way, which comes hot on the heels of their acclaimed 2023 album Find Out. The album dealt with relentless gentrification, runaway technology & creeping authoritarianism and grappled with a present that already feels dystopian. The band have, instead of surrendering to despair, charged ahead with defiance, exploring urgent questions about survival. The band are readying us for their groundbreaking 3rd album, Impossible World, slated for release on 17th March, and from that comes the growling new single, Long Way, which I will be reviewing for you today.

pops;Long Way – The track begins with a real sludgy, growler guitar riff that sets the tone as the track builds with sheer grit and determination as the thundering snare drum punches give the track depth. The funking bassline comes through and drops in with a real dark, brooding tone that wraps itself around this fist pumping monster as we feel the energy weaving it’s way through this real thought provoking number, the crunching, face melting guitar riffs are really letting the track break free as the soaring vocals break free and really tell us that this band mean business with their tight, meaty tones that are coming for us. The scratchy tones are flowing freely through the track as the fuzzy-toned licks combine with a killer bassline that really pops, the vocals are strong, direct and tell their own story.
