Adam Sweet Band at th Tuesday Night Music Club, Coulsdon .

Review and Photos By Ken Jackson

After a busy weekend in Milton Keynes, enjoying five excellent bands performing in the UK Blues Challenge, it was great to return to our normal and much loved Tuesday Night Music Club for the return of a band I first saw back in June 2025 , The Adam Sweet Band . They impressed me then, and they certainly impressed me again last night. After a brief introduction from Richard Dunning our host the band took to the stage.

Adam Sweet was joined by Paddy Blight on bass and vocals, Gary Kroll on drums, and Tom Hughes on organ, complete with Leslie speaker. Adam is an excellent guitarist with a terrific voice, and of course the band are no strangers to the live music circuit, regularly performing at clubs and festivals around the country. They have recently embarked on a tour promoting their latest album, Mortuary Blues aptly named as it was recorded in a disused mortuary ,now recording studio.

From the opening notes, Adam Sweet and his band delivered a compelling fusion of brooding blues and rootsy rock, underpinned by soulful vocals, fabulous songwriting and some truly impressive guitar work. The audience was fully engaged from the start, and the energy in the room continued to build as the evening progressed.

It was particularly nice to see the band relax into their performance as the night went on, clearly enjoying themselves and feeding off the atmosphere in the room. That enjoyment was of course infectious, making for a thoroughly entertaining evening of live music.

Adam Sweet is no stranger to the live music scene. A seasoned guitarist and singer-songwriter, he began performing at the age of 15 in the South West of England. Over the years, he has developed through various musical incarnations , from solo acoustic artist and session player to his current role as bandleader. Throughout that journey, he has demonstrated an impressive ability to move effortlessly from introspective, lyrical moments to full throttle blues rock.

The evening consisted of two excellent sets that featured all of the songs from Mortuary Blues, along with a couple of well chosen covers, which I enjoyed immensly .Having enjoyed Adam Sweet and his band the first time I saw them, it was a real pleasure to see them return and again deliver a fantastic evening of live music. Adam and the band were rewarded with a standing ovation from the enthusiastic audience ,and returned to the stage for a final encore. Rupert Peters on the sound desk ensured that the sound we heard was the best it could possibly be. All in all another very successful evening at the Tuesday Night Music club
