Review By Mark Pitfield
On May the 10th 2025 King Kraken’s “March Of The Gods” headline (album released in April 25) tour stopped at the Fire Bug in Leicester, bringing together Sirensong, Skeyth and Bury Me Where I Fall as supports (apologies I drove from the South coast and only made it for King Kraken). Like any band releasing a second album after their first gained such critical acclaim the second album “March Of The Gods” is a huge step in confidence, technical ability, song writing and audio engineering.
Having followed and seen them on numerous occasions over the last two years it is safe to say on this humid night in Leicester that the music and fan base is ever growing.
In the upstairs live music room of the Fire Bug the band (Mark Donoghue (vocals), Pete Rose (rhythm guitar), Karl Meyer (bass guitar), Adam Healey (lead guitar), and Richard Mears (drums) played for just over an hour starting with first 3 tracks from the new album Scream, El Giganto and Berzerker before playing Green Terror and Haddonfield 78 from their first release MCLXXX. Then followed Vigilante, Preacher, Magnum Opus, Under The Sun before slowing things down for the heartfelt song Hero and then the Title track March Of The Gods and finally their encore Chainsaw Saviour before leaving the stage to great applause.
They only stopped their high energy show tempo to give praise for those in attendance and to thank them for their support, which was great and meant they could play hit after hit.
This run of headline shows along with other festival appearances and also their songs being played on rotation on lots of rock and metal radio stations including Planet Rock will see
them also open proceedings at the sold out Stonedead festival in Newark in August proving that everything is going in the right direction and that hard work and dedication really does pay off.
I like many find the band very approachable and after the gig all were around to meet and greet & sign merchandise and I was left looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the band.
Catch them on their run of dates left below and let’s bring King Kraken to the masses.
