Laura McNamara aka LYRA is a singer / songwriter / multi – instrumentalist from Bandon, County Cork, Ireland who came to our attention in 2016 with the release of her debut EP W.I.L.D. in 2016. LYRA gained most of her recognition through her single Emerald which showcased on RTE Drama Striking Out, Emerald has also been used on Teen Wolf, The X Factor & The Only Way Is Essex, LYRA has appeared at festivals The Great Escape, Music Cork, Latitude & Electric Picnic. LYRA brings us her stunning debut album LYRA which she originally started writing 4 years ago but tonight we finally get to hear this fantastic album in all it’s glory, I had the chance to chat with LYRA before the show and we got all arty and chatted about future plans, new album and what we can expect from tonight so please settle in as I take in this powering ball of energy as she comes at us live tonight from King Tut’s. The place is filling up nicely as the tension rises and the house PA dims LYRA hits the stage to rapturous applause and launches into –
New Day – Cool dark piano tones are oozing from the stage as LYRA lets her soulful vocals bring this place to life as this classic melodic track lets the gig come to life. The bass kicks are bringing a mellow glow to tonight’s performance as we really let this ball of energy bring a haunting tone to Glasgow tonight, the colossal soaring vocals are reaching every corner of the venue as LYRA belts out this opening track that just fuels the fire inside King Tut’s tonight as we welcome this performer to this killer venue tonight, we are treated to funny stories and anecdotes tonight as LYRA tells us of her journey and the fact that most of the tracks are about her ex boyfriend who was an idiot and we all agree with a loud cheer, up next is the fantastic
Drink Me Up – A dark piano tone comes in as a bass kick lets this soulful track come at us as LYRA’s delicious vocals run freely through the venue tonight. We Are Beautiful – LYRA steps forward and lets her epic vocals bring this track to us as a cool rhythm section lets the groove open as the track erupts into life. I didn’t know what to expect from the show tonight but I was pleasantly surprised as I found myself tapping my feet to the groove that was coming at me tonight, the songs are heartfelt, soulful and have real emotion tied to them that really makes LYRA more likeable let me tell you, we are tearing through the setlist at a rate as LYRA tells another story that catches our attention as she shifts her chst to making music, fulfilling her dreams and making Mum & Dad proud which drew a huge cheer from the crowd, we move onto
Chess – LYRA lets her fantastic vocals bring this haunting track to us as the punchy groove wanders through the venue tonight as the beat builds and really hits us. The vocals are just awesome as they deliver a melodic tone that lets us feel the emotion coming from this fantastic musician as she delivers a faultless vocal tone that just grabs our attention. The boys are providing a cool groove that lets us get the groove as this gig really gives us a sense of something special has happened here tonight, we have felt the emotion, depth, chat, swagger oozing from this exciting young artist that tells us that there is more to come for sure, up next
Queen – A sweet haunting mellow tone wanders through the venue as cool synth tones bring this classy track to life as we feel the energy pulsing tonight. The soaring vocals are just on the money and we call tell why she has been called the Beyonce of Bandon as her soaring vocals are just incredible, the foot tapping tone is just letting the tone flow effortlessly through the venue as the place has welcomed this fantastic artist as she brings her own stamp to the venue tonight, we are just feeling the love pouring from the stage as LYRA lets her vocals do the talking and just deliver a crisp, clean vocal range that is mesmerising, the place has really taken this young lady to their hearts as she is chatting, smiling and feeling the love from Glasgow tonight as we stroll into
America – Mesmerising vocals come at us as this soaring track flows freely through the venue as the sweet synth laden keys ripple through the intro as we stand and watch this incredible young artist bring herself to us tonight. The night is really a celebration of her debut album which is packed full of dancefloor bangers and foot stomping grooves that are wrapped in delicious vocals that give you a real warm fuzzy feeling inside as she steps forward and lays herself bare for us in Glasgow tonight, the place is just feeling the love for this fantastic musician as she strolls around the stage and flicks her hair and delivers killer vocals that are backed by a punchy rhythm section that is wrapped in sweet cool synth beats, up next is the fabulous
Lose My Mind – LYRA lets her epic vocals bring this mellow groover track to life as the tone flows freely through the venue tonight as a sweet pulsing synth tones come at us. Falling – A sweet smooth synth tone flows into the venue as LYRA brings her colossal vocals to the show as we stand and watch this fantastic artist bring the tempo. The rhythm section brings a snare drum beat that allows this track to open and flow freely as we feel the mellow groove bring the place to life as the show builds and builds and really allows this fantastic artist the room she needed to deliver a faultless vocal assault and bring her band along for the ride as we felt the place was filled with epic tones and punchy rhythms that really allowed her to be taked to our hearts, we reach the pinnacle of tonight’s show as we are treated to the classic
Edge Of 17 – LYRA launches straight into this floorfiller as the killer sampler tones pour from the stage as the crowd goes wild and the punchy rhythm brings snare drum beats that get us moving. The whole place knows the track and lets themselves cut loose as the place starts bouncing and really getting their groove on, the track has been given a makeover as the slick beats wrap themselves around this classic Stevie Nick’s track as we dance along and punch the air to this infectious groove track that has us dancing into the night and beyond as LYRA brings down the curtain on a fantastic night of toe tapping, punchy songs.
