Hellcats Live at Bannerman’s: A Night of Metal Mayhem

Hellcats, the electrifying metal quartet from Ljubljana, Slovenia, delivered an unforgettable performance at Bannerman’s, Edinburgh. Originally formed in 2003 by sisters Sasha and Sonja Zagorc, the band has evolved over the years but has steadfastly maintained its raw, energetic sound. With a lineup featuring Sara Simeunovic on vocals, Mia Marinic on guitar, Sasha Zagorc on bass, and Sonja Zagorc on drums, Hellcats have released an impressive discography, including their “Hellcat” EP in 2011 and albums “Divja Pot” and “Warrior Princess” in 2013. They’ve toured extensively, playing festivals like Iron Girls and Jelen Demonfest, and their current tour is courtesy of Global Unity Tours USA.

Tonight, the packed venue eagerly awaited Hellcats’ first Edinburgh gig. As the lights dimmed and the PA hushed, the band sauntered on stage, immediately engaging with the crowd and kicking off their set with the powerful:

Demon Dreams

A deep, heavy bass line set the tone as dark melodic riffs oozed into the track. Snare drum punches and cymbal crashes created a rhythm that awakened the groove, pushing this track forward with sizzling licks and deep, pounding beats. The band’s synergy was palpable, and the audience was fully on board, hollering and punching the air.

Heavy Metal

Combining bass kicks with snare drum grooves and cymbal crashes, this track came to life with sizzling riffs and

fantastic vocals from Sasha, Sonja, and Sara. The powerful rhythms and clean guitar licks drove the song, making it a force of nature that stopped you in your tracks. The crowd joined in the singing, creating a unifying, high-energy experience.

Stillness In Time

Starting with a softer intro, this track built up with snare drum punches and bass kicks. The melodic rock ballad showcased the band’s ability to balance power with a softer side, featuring plundering funk tones and anthemic vocals. The band’s smiles reflected the atmosphere of the night, as Bannerman’s welcomed their melodic, riff-driven sound.

I Rule The Ruins

This cover track was brought to life by Mia’s shredding riff and Sara’s commanding vocals. The rhythm section delivered solid snare drum punches and cymbal snaps, kicking the energy up a notch. The crowd stamped their feet and threw their horns in the air, thoroughly enjoying the raw energy and slick, sizzling performance.

I Am

Sara’s soaring vocals and slick shredding guitar licks opened this track. The rhythm section’s snare drum taps filled Bannerman’s with a powerful tone. Sara encouraged the crowd to raise their hands, and the audience responded enthusiastically. The track built and grew, delivering a kick-ass, energetic performance.

Master Of The Night

Sweet guitar strums and pounding drums brought attention to this track. Anthemic vocals and gritty riffs built the song into a thunderous beast, with Mia’s clean solo standing out. The rhythm section’s deep beats and cymbal crashes combined with strong vocals, making this a standout track of the night.

Black Thunder (New Track)

Cymbal snaps and shredding guitar riffs introduced this new offering. The grungy tempo allowed Sara to showcase her powerful vocals, supported by a funky bassline. This solid rock track showcased the band’s talent and their ability to engage the crowd with a first-time playthrough in Edinburgh.

Proud To Be Loud

A thundering snare drum kick and killer guitar riff launched this rock ‘n’ roll monster. Sara’s powerful vocals and the pumping bassline filled the venue with energy. The band’s growing confidence was evident as they got the crowd to throw their horns in the air, enjoying the full-on rock experience.

Viking

Sara’s question about any Vikings in the crowd was followed by melodic guitar licks and cymbal snaps. The cool bassline and melodic riffs created a smouldering beast of a track. The rhythm section pounded away, combining well with Mia’s guitar playing, showcasing the band’s growth and confidence.

Breaking The Law (Judas Priest Cover)

The familiar riff had the crowd singing along as Sara lent her vocals to this classic cover. The shredding guitar riffs and thundering rhythm section brought the energy, doing justice to the iconic track. The band’s raw energy and punchy beats had the audience rocking out.

Steelrider

This energetic rocker track featured driving riffs and a punchy rhythm section. The deep funk tones of the bassline and melodic rock elements created a dynamic, exciting track. The vocals highlighted the band’s sense of sisterhood, and the powerful performance left the audience wanting more.

Hellcats

The signature tune kicked off with foot-stomping riffs and Sara’s commanding vocals. The grungy groove and punchy rhythm section filled the venue with energy. Mia’s gritty guitar licks and the band’s full-on performance made this a highlight of the night.

T.N.T. (AC/DC Cover)

Sara’s call of “Oi Oi Oi” pumped up the crowd for this killer cover. The snare drum punches and shredding riff added a raw edge to the track. The audience sang along, horns up, as the band delivered a raunchy version of this classic.

Warrior Princess

A shredding riff and cymbal crashes set the stage for this powerful track. Sara’s rasping vocals and the pounding rhythm section created a groovy, energetic performance. Mia’s clean solo and the band’s tight performance capped off the night with high energy.

Now Is My Time

Ending the night in style, this foot-stomping rock ‘n’ roll track featured a pounding bass kick and snare drum punches. The combined vocal tones elevated the track, and the full-on bassline brought a funky groove. The band’s raw, energetic performance ensured a memorable conclusion to the night.
