Day Two at Copenhell 2025: A Wild Ride Through Music, Chaos, and Celebration Copenhagen’s most explosive festival

Review by Mark Chapman

Copenhell 2025: A Wild Ride Through Music, Chaos, and Celebration Copenhagen’s most explosive festival is back, and this year’s Copenhell felt more like a massive alternative music celebration than just another rock and metal gathering. As Denmark’s largest rock and metal festival, Copenhell has consistently raised the bar. But in 2025, it’s clear this festival has transcended the heavy metal crowd and is now a true alternative spectacle—bringing together music lovers from every corner of the globe. The energy from the crowd was electric from start to finish, and the lineup? It was nothing short of iconic. The prodigious The Prodigy took center stage, proving that their rave-punk energy hasn’t dimmed even after the tragic loss of Keith Flint. Their set was an absolute whirlwind—a high-octane mix of hardcore electronica and punk rock that had the crowd raging until the very end.

These guys perform as though they’re running out of time, and it’s hard not to get swept up in the intensity of it all. The fact that they’re working on a new album only adds to the excitement for their return next year. Then there was The Cult, who took us on a journey through their timeless blend of psychedelic hard rock with those signature gothic undertones. A true classic act, their set was pure rock ‘n’ roll, with a captivating mix of raw energy, heart-pounding riffs, and a deep connection with fans both old and new. No matter what generation you come from, their music transcends time, and seeing them at Copenhell was a bucket-list moment for many. And how could we forget Bullet for My Valentine, who absolutely tore it up on the main stage? With their trademark blend of melodic metalcore and raw intensity, their performance was a perfect fit for the Copenhell vibe.

The crowd was fully on board, moshing and singing along to every track. The Welsh band’s energy was infectious, proving why they’ve remained at the top of the modern metal scene for so long. Exodus brought the thrash, and boy, did they bring it hard. Their blistering riffs and savage vocals had everyone headbanging from start to finish. It was a full-throttle thrash metal masterclass, and their veteran status in the genre showed with each pulse-pounding track. The intensity of their live show is not something you want to miss—Exodus proved they’re still one of the most formidable forces in metal. In addition to these heavyweights, The Sword, Gloryhammer, Lorna Shore, and Abbath all delivered incredible performances. The Sword kept the heavy rock vibes alive, offering some serious old-school stoner metal mixed with fiery energy. Gloryhammer’s power metal had the crowd in a fantasy-fueled frenzy, and Lorna Shore brought the brutal deathcore energy, dominating with crushing breakdowns and blistering vocals.

As for Abbath, they gave fans exactly what they wanted—black metal with a relentless edge, and an unforgettable stage presence that demanded your attention. Copenhell isn’t just about the music, though. If you’re into a bit of madness, you were in for a treat. The OPENHELL karaoke party had attendees living out their rock star dreams, with the Copenhell crowd cheering them on as they belted out classic hits. It’s one of those quirky traditions that make the festival feel like a true community. And if you were looking for something even more absurd, the Nordic Elite Wrestling was ready to deliver an over-the-top spectacle of pure action, with metal and wrestling blending in a symphony of chaos and violence. Copenhell 2025 isn’t just a festival; it’s a celebration of everything that makes alternative music culture so vital—fierce performances, unfiltered creativity, and a sense of family that pulls everyone together, no matter where they come from. Every year, it’s clear that Copenhell is much more than just a gig; it’s an experience
