Wild Oceans – Bloodbath (Debut Single Review)

Review By Glen Parkes

Some debut singles whisper their arrival—Bloodbath by Wild Oceans kicks the door down. Released September 19th, the South-West alt-rock outfit announce themselves with a track that feels both urgent and timeless, carving out a sound that’s equal parts raw energy and refined craftsmanship.

Produced by the legendary John Cornfield (Oasis, Muse, Supergrass, Stone Roses) at the iconic Sawmills Studio, Bloodbath bristles with atmosphere. It’s a bruising, emotive alt-rock anthem that throws its weight around with towering riffs, pounding drums, and a vocal performance that walks the line between anguish and defiance. The song dives into the messy cycle of betrayal—loving someone you know will never change—but does so with a conviction that makes it cathartic rather than bleak.

Frontman Jon Burnell’s voice cuts through the mix with passion, while Mark Lee’s bass and keys, Phil Thomas’s lead guitar, and Connor Tregido’s relentless drumming give the track its muscle. There’s a clear nod to the giants of the past two decades—Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, Queens of the Stone Age—but Wild Oceans avoid imitation, instead distilling those influences into a sound that’s unmistakably their own.

What sets Bloodbath apart is its balance: it’s heavy yet melodic, polished yet raw, and carries an emotional weight that makes it stick long after the final chorus fades. For a band positioning themselves not as a comeback but a reinvention, this single feels like a mission statement.

Wild Oceans have already earned their stripes touring with 3 Doors Down, Pop Evil, and The Rifles, but Bloodbath proves they’re more than seasoned players—they’re a band ready to lead from the front.

A thunderous debut that demands attention. Keep your eyes on Wild Oceans.
