Oxford’s loudest new contenders, Stud Farm Mafia, crash onto the mat with “Gun Show” — a knowingly ridiculous, rap-rock bruiser lifted from their debut EP Did You Have A Good Weekend?
What began as a private joke about sleeveless T-shirts and flex culture mutated into a full-throttle “gym anthem,” complete with baritone riffs, turntable swagger and chant-ready hooks. Frontman Cole, fresh from a lockdown weightlifting obsession, leans all the way in, delivering the immortal line “Two tickets to the gun show” with a wink and a snarl.
But beneath the laddish chaos lies sharp self-awareness. Packed with references to John Prescott, Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder and The Italian Job, the track proudly amplifies its British identity rather than sanding it smooth for transatlantic appeal.
Produced by David Radahd-Jones at Red City Recordings, “Gun Show” is heavy, hook-packed and deliberately over the top — lampooning toxic masculinity while celebrating the freedom of being loud and daft with your mates.
It’s bold, boisterous and brilliantly tongue-in-cheek — and it absolutely slaps.
