Review By Darren McIntyre
Ava Franks is an Indie / Pop artist based in New York and draws her inspiration from the storytelling of singer / songwriter Sarah McLaughlan & the dream – like soundscapes of artist Lorde. Ava has been singing since she can remember and, as a child, always enjoyed taking piano lessons and performing in school musicals. 2021 sees her release her first single ‘3 Pines’ and since then has gone on to release 6 more, today she brings us her dreamy new single Good Scar which I will be reviewing for you today.
Good Scar – The track begins with soft, soulful vocals that have a cool piano tone for company as this melodic number comes at us as the track changes tempo and lets the groove build. The rhythm section comes through with a sweet, punchy snare / bass kick that lets the track tell it’s own story as the full on bassline drops in and wraps itself around this dreamy, pop – tastic toe tapping track that has a real feel – good factor attached to it, the whole arrangement is a nice, soulful, toe tapping groove that is built around the smoldering, soulful vocals that are really letting the groove build as the lyrics grab our attention and let us know that this fantastic musician is hitting the ground running with this fantastic track that just puts a smile on your face.
