Review By Darren McIntyre
Revenant are a 4-piece rock ‘n’ roll juggernaut from Newbury, UK, who were formed in 2023; the boys brought us their blistering debut EP What A Time To Be Alive in 2024. The boys have a busy year ahead and bring us their follow-up EP, Best Medicine, and this will see them showcase some new tracks at Maid Of Stone Festival, Quarantune Rocks & Steel Paws, along with a smattering of shows all around the country. The boys gave us singles, Best Medicine & Runaway Rage and Black Dogs & Sad Men, which I will be reviewing back in October. Today the boys bring us their new single, I’ll Be There, which I will be reviewing for you today. Please sit back and grab a cold one as I take us through this fantastic new track.
I’ll Be There – A cool deep bass kick wanders through the intro as a mellow guitar lick lets the track breathe as the gravelly vocals make themselves known to us as this bruiser builds to erupt. The rhythm section comes at us with a real solid snare drum kick as the cymbal crashes rain down on us as the boys flex their muscles on this kickass arrangement; the funky, deep bassline is dropping in with a sultry, melodic groove that gives the track depth and swagger and leaves a smile on your face from the get-go. The tone is a real sludgy affair with a heavy emphasis on the gritty riffs that are wrapped in a pounding rhythm section that is kicking in the doors and letting us have it both barrels. We have awesome vocals that are steeped in a real gravelly, blues tone that fits the track perfectly as the nice, mellow chords finish off the track in fine style.
