review By Darren McIntyre
Sorrowful Angels are a melodic / dark / metal / atmospheric gothic band from Athens, Greece, who originally formed in 1999. The boys unfortunately took an early hiatus due to label setbacks. The band was revitalised, and in 2008 they reformed under the stewardship of renowned producer-multi-instrumentalist Dion Christodoulatos. This era saw the band hand-picked by Klaus Meine (Scorpions) for a prestigious live finals contest & later serving as the backing band for Iron Maiden legend Paul Di’Anno during his 2013-14 tours. With a decade of silence, the boys dropped Remedie and brought their hibernation to a close. 2026 sees the boys bring us a new single, Hope Untold, which I will be reviewing for you today, so please settle in as I run my ears over this colossal new track.
Hope Untold – A real crisp guitar riff opens this symphonic number as the dark, brooding vocals lean in and let this rousing monster rear its head as the thundering rhythm section brings the heat with its powering kicks. The killer bass kicks really let the track flow as the epic, mesmerising tones swirl all around us as a dark, delicious bassline drops in and really lets us feel the groove as the boys set out their stall and give it to us all guns blazing. The foot-stomping beat is a real cool feel and lets the tempo change direction as the cool bass kicks let the tone weave its way through the arrangement as the boys come together and really give us a well-crafted, melodic number that brings a galloping solo that is intense, deep and brings a certain swagger to the composition. The boys are giving us a real treat with this track, as there is a real gritty, mellow tone that lets the sampler notes flow freely and lets the boys deliver a cool, full-on track that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
