There is something wonderfully uncomplicated about Jenna Paulette’s “Maggie’s Song (Old Blue Jeans).” It is a song built around friendship, confidence and the simple reminder that sometimes you just need someone to tell you how damn good you are.
Written by Paulette alongside Smith Ahnquist and Brent Anderson, the track carries a warm, spirited country feel while delivering a message that feels both personal and universal. Inspired by Paulette’s best friend of 20 years, who was struggling and jokingly asked for a cigarette, Paulette instead gave her something far better: a song to smoke when life gets too heavy.
That story sits at the heart of the track, giving “Maggie’s Song” an authenticity that shines through. Paulette isn’t preaching; she is raising a glass, turning up the music and reminding women that they don’t need validation from someone who has treated them badly. Sometimes, confidence can be as simple as slipping into those old blue jeans and remembering exactly who you are.
Paulette’s own journey adds further weight. A CMT Next Women of Country honoree and Apple Music Country Riser, she brings the grit of her Texas ranch upbringing into everything she creates. Following her Texas radio No. 1 “Steady,” this latest release feels like another confident step forward.
“Maggie’s Song (Old Blue Jeans)” is infectious, empowering and impossible not to root for. It is country music with heart, attitude and a whole lot of girl power.
