FangSlinger are a UK-based band with a sound that’s all their own that is a dark mix of Western grit, gothic edge, and full-throttle rock music. Their forthcoming debut EP, We Are the Night, opens the doors to a world of outlaw anti-heroes, packed with heavy grooves, bold harmonies and stories that pull you right into their shadowy universe.
As The Crow Flies is lifted from that upcoming EP and follows recent singles Blood Curse and Bloodsucker Blues.
Their new single pushes things even further. It’s a punchy, hard-hitting track that mixes outlaw country swagger with gritty rock attitude and a touch of gothic darkness. The dual male and female vocals give it real bite, and you can hear hints of Guns N’ Roses, Ghost and Avenged Sevenfold in the way it builds, but make no mistake, this is pure FangSlinger.
The single kicks off with a wee country twang before the guitars hit hard, turning it into a definite head-nodder with a great feel running through it. There’s a gothic undertone that drives the song along nicely, giving it that dark edge that’s becoming their trademark. The harmonies stick fast too; you’ll be singing the chorus by the end whether you mean to or not. FangSlinger are doing things their own way, and I’m all for it.
Live, FangSlinger promises to be something else entirely. Their shows will blend music and theatre, with moody desert graveyard backdrops and each member stepping into character, FangSlinger, BloodRose and HangMan, giving every performance a real sense of drama. Add in their rallying cry, ‘All Souls Welcome’, and it’s easy to see why they’ve already built such a loyal underground following.
You can catch their live show on Saturday 8th November at the Corporation in Sheffield, where they’ll hit the stage for a gothic-western hoedown that’s not to be missed.
