2025Release Date: 30th October 25
Review by Linda McDermott
To Nowhere are an alt-rock/alt-grunge band from the Northeast of England, formed in 2021 when they burst onto the scene with their debut track Low, a song packed with energy, grit, and clear intent. Since then, the five-piece have carved out a sound that’s very much their own, drawing from influences such as Alice in Chains, Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, and Rage Against the Machine. The result is a punchy, emotive blend of heavy riffs, driving rhythm, and raw honesty that hits in all the right places.

with, “WhyThis new release marks To Nowhere’s first single since their 2024 EP Violent Kicks & Dirty Tricks, a record that made a serious impression. When I reviewed that EP, I opened my review with: “Why have I not seen or heard of this band before? To Nowhere are a revelation, grabbing my attention from the very first note with a sound that is as versatile as it is captivating.” I stand firmly by that statement today, and I’m thrilled to see them return with new material.
Speaking about Persona, the band explain: “‘Persona’ is a song that represents the loss of a friend. It describes the hard reality of what feels almost like a break-up, remembering that souls connect in more ways than just romance, and what we do to face that reality can be a hard road ahead if we choose to let it consume us.”
That sense of emotional weight comes through powerfully in the track. From the first few notes, it’s unmistakably To Nowhere; it’s darkly melodic, layered, and full of intent. Robbie’s vocals are instantly recognisable, carrying a mix of strength and vulnerability that really sells the message. His range and tone pull you into the story, while the band back him up with precision and passion. The rhythm section gives the song its pulse, and the guitars drive it forward with perfectly measured tension and release. It’s one for the playlist, as it’s powerful, heartfelt, and full of atmosphere.
With Persona, To Nowhere show that they’re not just holding their ground but building some serious momentum; with plans in the pipeline for next year, they are definitely worth looking out for.
To celebrate the single’s release, the band will perform Persona live at Hard Rock Hell XVIII in Great Yarmouth on 6th November, a perfect chance to catch them at their fiery best.
