Release Date 29th November 25
Review by Linda McDermott
Are you tired of the same old Christmas songs that have been around since your parents were kids? You know the ones, overplayed, sugary-sweet, and somehow never quite speaking of real life. Enter The Soul Revival, who are here to shake things up with their latest single, I Still Believe.
The band, who only formed in 2023 have quickly made a name for themselves with their heavy rock credentials, landing spots on festival lineups and gig circuits across the country. Known for their raw energy and no-nonsense approach to rock, they’ve now taken on the challenge of a Christmas song, and the results are refreshing.
Band members
Ste Stetson – Vocals
Matthew Higgy Higgins – Bass
Andy Dove – Guitar
Karl Selickis – Drums
Working on a new album set for release next April, the band decided to do something a little different to end the year. Singer Ste explains: “I’ve always wanted to write a Christmas song, but when I’ve attempted it in the past, they always felt too commercial and cheesy. I wanted to write something that reflected real life and how I actually feel about the season.”
And that’s exactly what I Still Believe delivers. There’s a Christmas feel woven into the music, but it’s grounded in reality, with lyrics that are relatable for anyone who’s experienced the holiday season beyond the childhood magic. The track will have you swaying along, tapping your feet, and nodding in recognition at the honest portrayal of festive highs and lows.
Ste continues: “This is a song about how Christmas changes for you as you get older. As a kid, it’s magical, full of excitement and fun. But as you grow up, life, bills, broken-down cars, and general stress take over, and the season can actually feel overwhelming. Still, I wanted to remind people what it’s really about, and that’s family. For me, seeing my little one enjoy herself, even in the middle of all the chaos, makes it all worthwhile.”
I Still Believe is a refreshing take on a seasonal classic, replacing clichés with sincerity and offering a modern, heartfelt perspective. If you’re fed up with the endless loop of dated, sugary Christmas songs, and let’s be honest, who isn’t? This single is a timely antidote. The Soul Revival manage to combine their signature rock energy with something genuinely meaningful, encouraging us to see the festive season through a lens that is honest, warm, and very much alive.
Keep an eye out on the 29th of November for I Still Believe and give The Soul Revival your support. This is Christmas music for the grown-ups who still want to feel the magic without the gloss, and it’s a reminder that even amidst the chaos, there’s always a reason to believe.
