Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast are an Americana / Roots rock band currently residing in Ashville, North Carolina but were born in Detroit & raised in New York City. The band have been influenced by the sound of East Coast rock n roll, Motown & Roots music and this has allowed them to share the stage with the likes of Mavis Staples, Marcus King, Blackberry Smoke, The Avett Brothers, Greta Van Fleet & Robert Jon & The Wreck. The band have given us EP Blueprints and will early next year drop their LP Heirloom, the band are on tour right now and tonight they roll into Bannerman’s in Auld Reekie, please join me as I take in the delightful sounds of this incredible singer and her band. The place is buzzing and ready for Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast as the house PA fades and the band take the stage and hit us with –

Piece Of You – We kick off with a funky, slick guitar riff as the punchy rhythm section leans in with a cool snare drum punch as the bass kicks and cymbal snaps let the track ripple through the venue. Caitlin lets her soaring, blues soaked vocals lead the way as this toe tapping groove laden rocker puts a smile on your face for sure as the dark, brooding bassline comes in and hits us with delicious, meaty tones that really grab your attention. The sweet, slick guitar licks are oozing from the stage as the band just kicks in the doors and gives us what we came for, a well oiled, blues laden arrangement that is wrapped in killer vocals that put a smile on your face from the very first note, this is a terrific way to open a blues rock show as it will just get better and better from here on in, up next –

Keep On Trying – There is a real mellow groove rolling through this track as we get a slick, funky guitar lick that lets the band really deliver a toe tapping, melodic tone that just gets your feet moving through this awesome piece of music. The rhythm section is controlling the groove with it’s signature snare drum punches as the dark, brooding bassline comes in and wraps itself around this kick ass tone driven number, the sweet. clean guitar riffs are filling the air as Aaron brings the funk to this fantastic arrangement as the band quickly comes together and unleashes a kick ass blues eruption that just ticks all the boxes as Caitlin lets her fantastic vocals leave their mark on Auld Reekie tonight as the place ripples their applause for this cool outfit, Caitlin thanks us for coming out on this Wednesday night to watch them do their thing, up next –

Blue Heron – Caitlin tells us that this is their debut show in Edinburgh as we cheer loudly as the guitar led track opens up and lets Caitlin deliver a phenomenal vocal that just catches our attention. The rhythm section is again bringing the groove with a solid snare drum beat that lets the cymbal crashes lead the groove of this toe tapping groover, the band are settling in quickly as we feel the funk wrap itself around us as the band bring a real infectious tone that is off the scale awesome. The dark, delicious bassline is bringing depth, swagger and bags of attitude to this funky, blues laden number as we groove along with Caitlin & the boys as they deliver soothingblues soaked tracks that leave us wanting more from this colossal outfit as we just groove along and feel the energy pouring from the band as we stroll into –

Born Under A Bad sign – A cool, sludgy guitar riff eases through the intro as the Broadcast cut loose and bring a real bluesy groove to Auld Reekie tonight as Caitlin leans in with her smouldering vocals. The rhythm section is commanding the room with a punchy, solid snare drum beat that just flows effortlessly through the venue tonight, the funky, delicious bassline drops in with a real groovy, bouncy feel that it just wraps itself around this colossal tune as the place settles into the blues groove from this exciting band from the US of A. The track just allows us to stamp our feet and feel the energy oozing from this fantastic arrangement as Caitlin & the boys dig deep and really pull out all the stops for tonight’s show, next up –

Drown In My Own Tears(Ray Charles via Aretha Franklin) – We slow things down a tad as this smouldering blues piece simmers as Caitlin brings the track to life with her incredible vocals. The snare drum taps command the rhythm section as the track peels back the layers and really lets the band do this track justice, the whole place is fixed on the stage as the band really gives us a cool, thought provoking track that just takes us on the journey with Caitlin & the guys as they let us feel the blues rolling through the venue tonight. The crowd as little as it  is are being treated to a show that will be with us for a very long time let me tell you, I have followed Caitlin and the boys for a few years now and will say that they will be playing bigger & better stages sometime soon, we are feeling the love oozing from the stage as the band tells us they really appreciate us coming out on a wet, windy Wednesday as they lead us into –

Don’t Waste It – A cool foot tapping tone pours from the stage as Aaron leans in and lets his guitar do the talking as a dark, meaty bassline wraps itself around this slick, mellow groover. Caitlin’s vocals are effortless as she directs the track with her smouldering vocals as we get a solid snare punch that really lets the track breath, we have a killer 4 – piece outfit that are leaving everything on the stage tonight as they deliver some old tracks, some new tunes and a smuttering of covers that just leave us wanting more from this exciting band from Ashville, North Carolina. The funky beat is just flowing freely through the venue as this stripped back no nonsense band set out their stall and just give us all they have as we feel the energy pouring from the stage as Caitlin leads the charge with her effortless vocals that just take us on a journey with the band as they lead us into –

Let It Ride – A gritty guitar lick opens the track as the rhythm section brings the groove with a solid snare drum punch that really lets the track come at us as the cool, dark bassline dips it’s toes in and really lets the track open and soar. The vocals are smooth, melodic, have texture and direction as the boys bring the noise as the cool, mellow bassline surrounds us as the band digs deep and shifts through the gears to really let us feel the roots rock vibe flow through the venue tonight. The new tracks are just lifting the band somewhat as they deliver a deeper tone that has texture as the tracks get better and better as we let the band express themselves with their funky, mellow tones that just catch our attention as the place gets to grips with Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast as we roll into –

Homeless – A soulful, mellow beat oozes from the intro as Caitlin unleashes her incredible vocals onto us as the bass kicks fill the air as this toe tapping melodic track hits us from all sides. The sweet, crisp guitar licks are easing into the track as the funky. mellow bassline brings the groove to this classic track, the soaring vocals are just elevating the track to another level as we fix our gaze on the stage as the track lets you catch Caitlin & the boys do their thing as the gig just builds and builds as the band shifts through the gears and really delivers a thought provoking, mesmerising set that leaves us wanting more from this killer 4 piece as they bring us a raft of new tunes that really get us all excited as we stop and catch our breath for a minute as we move into –

Halfway There – Caitlin dedicates this track to her Mom and thanks us for creating space for her and the boys to perform here tonight, the tone quickens a little as the solid snare drum punches bring the track to life as Caitlin unleashes her incredible vocals that let this epic tune deliver a well crafted arrangement that lets Caitlin express herself as the boys dig in and bring a funky, mellow groove section that just puts a smile on your face for sure. The toe tapping beat is just a real shot in the arm as the band brings the groove, swagger and delight to us tonight but the new tunes are just bubbling under the surface as we just want more and more from this fantastic band as we roll into –

Led Blood – Aaron lets the track breath with a sweet, mellow guitar lick that flows from the stage with ease as the cymbal rolls create a real fusion feel that lets the bassline drop in and deliver a dark, brooding feel. The rhythm section brings the noise with snare drum punches, cymbal crashes that evolve into a bass kick that just tells it’s own story as the place falls silent to allow Caitlin to bring her incredible vocals to us tonight, the track has depth, emotion and really grabs our attention as we watch the stage and let Caitlin unleash her soaring blues soaked vocals that just let the track flow freely through the venue tonight. The slick, crisp guitar tones really give the track a blues tinge that tells us that the band have been working hard honing their signature sound before the came to the UK, we are witnessing something special tonight I can tell you as we watch the stage in awe as this 4 piece delivers a killer set that really grabs our attention as we hurtle through the set we stroll into –

Everything I need – A crunchy guitar riff oozes from the stage as a cool snare beat comes at us as this toe tapping track grabs our attention as Caitlin lets her killer vocals lead the way. The dark, brooding bassline is hitting us with a real meaty groove that just wraps itself around this fantastic track that just puts a smile on your face, the lyrics are just bubbling under the surface as the band hits their stride and really brings the groove to us tonight. The place is just loving the tone and texture that is coming at us tonight as we really take this band to our hearts tonight, I have seen them many times before but tonight there is a maturity and texture to the band which tells me they have taken time to discover themselves and what they want to bring to their audience, we are hurtling towards the business end of the show as we come onto a killer tune –

Battle Cry – The track opens with a punchy bass kick as the crisp guitar licks flow freely through the intro as Caitlin brings her smpouldering vocals to our attention as the boys give us a real cool groove. The bassline is hitting us with a real funky, toe tapping tone that allows the track to build as the band shifts through the gears and lets us feel the blues beat wrap itself around us, the cymbal snaps are letting the rhythm section control the groove as the place welcomes a real force of nature tonight as this killer band really tell their own story with their signature licks, punchy groove and epic vocals that just grab your attention. The dark, meaty bassline comes at us as the rhythm section tinkers away at the back of the room and brings us a punchy, deep groove laden solo of sorts that just delights the crowd as we roll into the last but two songs of the night with –

Haunted By You – Aaron leans in and lets the guitar do the talking as a funky, mellow bassline wraps itself around us as we feel the emotion oozing from the band tonight as this killer track really lets Caitlin tell her own story as this killer track stops us in our tracks. The snare drum punches add depth and texture to this colossal tune as we feel the groove wander through the venue tonight as this killer band takes us with them on their journey to reach their goal, the softness, texture are just incredible as we watch the stage and feel the tone wrap itself around us as the place gets out their phones and captures this epic moment as the band leads us into the last track of the evening in the form of –

Heart Of Gold – A real gutsy, gritty guitar lick opens the track as Caitlin leans in with her colossal blues soaked vocals that just bring this track to life as we feel the energy oozing from this toe tapping monster. The rhythm section is kicking in with a cool, sultry snare drum punch that lets the track breathe as a funky, dark, brooding bassline wraps itself around this fantastic rocking blues filled ditty that just delivers, the swagger filled track has a real sassy side to it as we are swept along with the funky groove that just drops on us from a great height, Caitlin’s vocals are just outstanding as they drive this juggernaut track down the line as the slick, clean guitar licks flow effortlessly through this toe tapping, thigh slapping funk laden rock n roll track that instantly gets you up on your feet and feeling the funk flowing through your body as we bop along to this classy, blues filled number that will have us demanding more from this fantastic outfit.
