Callum Beattie today confidently strides into his most personal, compelling and accomplished era to date as he unveils his brand-new album ‘INDI’ – the first album on which he has truly found his voice. You’ll hear touches of Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire and the War on Drugs, all filtered through the life and character of a working-class Scot.  With recent highlights including a huge sold-out headline arena show at Glasgow’s OVO HydroRadio 2 playlists for both ‘Pins and Needles’ and ‘Two Pretenders’ – it’s the Scottish singer-songwriter’s best album yet and is out today.

Two years in the making, ‘INDI’ represents a new start for Callum Beattie. After his previous label attempted to push him into the pop lane, Callum’s new-found independence has given him the creative freedom to truly express his voice.

Callum says, “I hate using this word because everyone uses it, but the album is honest. It’s got freedom of expression, it’s independent, it’s all my favourite music rolled into one. It’s not meant to be perfect, but it is a portrait of where I’m at. It is the album I should have been allowed to make a long time ago.”

Throughout ‘INDI’Callum faces up to the problems of the past to help pave the way for a better future. The new focus track, ‘Red’, encapsulates that spirit with a U2-like grandeur and the central lyric, “I’m still afraid of being found out.”

He adds, “It’s about insecurity. I went for a Johnny Cash vocal style on that one. I can experiment a little bit now that I’m no longer held over a barrel.”

Beyond its singles, ‘INDI’ is a record rich with big tunes and deep introspection. ‘Fireproof’ is testament to his arena-bound scale, with a classic rock melody built for wall-to-wall singalongs, while The Verve-tinged ‘Lanterns’ also possesses the potential for big stage drama in a song which sees him reflect on his  memories of being raised solely by his father. But despite its tumultuous emotions, ‘INDI’primarily focuses on energy over sombreness before bringing down the curtain with the poetic, lovelorn ‘Always Rains In Glasgow’.

‘INDI’ was entirely written by Callum and was produced by Joe Cross (Courteeners, The LaFontaines, Louis Tomlinson).

‘INDI’ is available to buy HERE, with a variety of must-have physical formats and signed copies available. The latest is the signed 2CD Glasgow Edition, which adds live recordings from his epic homecoming show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.

Callum will waste no time in taking ‘INDI’ on the road, with an intimate album release tour which starts tomorrow and then an acoustic record store tour next month. He tours England in March ahead of two of his biggest ever shows in July – his own headline gig at Edinburgh Castle and then a headline set at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
