Nashville-based Southern rock band Parker Barrow have released their new single “Blinded,” a driving, stripped-back track that captures the band’s evolving sound and sets the tone for their upcoming album Hold the Mash, due out July 17th. Built around a hypnotic, Stones-inspired riff and a message that cuts deeper with each listen, “Blinded” finds Parker Barrow leaning into a more focused and deliberate approach.
Lyrically, the song reflects a quieter but equally pointed perspective. “It’s so easy for us as musicians to be enthralled by the world we live in, seeking validation from likes and comments that feed the flesh rather than the spirit,” says drummer and co-founder Dylan Turner. “I wrote this as a reminder to myself to first seek the kingdom and to not forget the bigger purpose.”

That sense of restraint carries through musically as well. “[That] was one of the first tracks written and recorded for the new record. It helped to give a bit of direction to where we hoped to go with the tracks that were to follow,” adds guitarist and musical director Alex Bender. “The main riff sounds very Stonesy, and I tried to approach the rhythm guitar parts how I would imagine Keith Richards would play them if he was in the band. ‘Blinded’ is a good example of the less is more approach where the beauty lies in its simplicity.” “Blinded” arrives as the first new music from Parker Barrow in 2026 and serves as an entry point into Hold the Mash, a record that builds on the foundation of their 2023 debut Jukebox Gypsies while marking a clear shift in how the band operates in the present tense.

To understand where Parker Barrow are heading with Hold the Mash, it helps to understand how they got here – and the story they’ve been building all along. The band has always understood the power of a good myth. In their case, that myth traces back to two names pulled from American folklore: Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. For Megan Kane and Dylan Turner, the pull was never the criminality – it was the bond, the motion, and the sense of two people so locked into each other, and into a shared fate, that the road itself becomes part of the story. That idea runs through Parker Barrow, but the band’s story is built on something far less romanticized and far more real: faith, sacrifice, hunger, chemistry, long miles, and years of pursuing music with very little safety net. Kane, who grew up in Pinson, Alabama, first found her voice singing in church, where music became a form of emotional release and expression. Turner, raised in La Plata, Maryland, was immersed in live music from an early age, learning not only how to play, but how bands function from the inside out. Their paths converged in Nashville in 2019, when a chance meeting quickly turned into a leap of faith: Kane joined Turner’s band on the road with little preparation, stepping into a life that would soon define them both. What followed were years spent building something from the ground up – including time living in an RV with no heat or air conditioning, parking at Walmart, and splitting meals between themselves and their dog. Through it all, the band kept moving forward, shaped by a shared sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to the road.

That journey has led to Hold the Mash, which captures Parker Barrow at a moment of clarity and expansion. A major part of that evolution is guitarist and musical director Alex Bender, whose role has become central to the band’s identity. Alongside Turner, Bender has helped shape the songwriting, arrangements, and sonic direction of this new chapter, bringing a tighter, more cohesive feel to the band’s sound. With Will Tipton on guitar, Kyle Priber on bass, and Eric Safka on keys rounding out the lineup, Parker Barrow has grown into a fully realized unit – one that carries its original vision forward with greater depth and power. Even the album title reflects that balance. Hold the Mash leans into the band’s playful, visual instincts while signaling a set of songs built on confidence and lived experience. Beneath the humor is a record grounded in everything the band has worked through to get here. Following the release of “Blinded,” Parker Barrow will spend the coming months on the road across the U.S. before heading to the UK in July for a run of headline dates and festival appearances, including Steelhouse Festival. The tour continues throughout the summer and into the fall, with stops in Chicago, Nashville, New York, and beyond as the band brings Hold the Mash to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. With “Blinded” setting the tone, Parker Barrow step into this next chapter with a sound that feels more focused, more deliberate, and more fully their own. Hold the Mash is out July 17th.
