Tricie and the Phantom Punks Unleash a Fiendish New Cover of the Misfits Classic “Vampira” — Dropping on the Anniversary of Plan 9 from Outer Space – July 22.
Tricie and the Phantom Punks are resurrecting a cult‑horror icon with the release of their brand‑new cover of the Misfits classic “Vampira.” The single drops on a perfectly macabre date: the anniversary of the release of Ed Wood’s legendary sci‑fi horror oddity, Plan 9 from Outer Space — the film that immortalized the original queen of the undead herself, Vampira.
With their signature blend of snarling punk energy, Punkabilly swagger, and fierce femme lead vocals, Tricie and the Phantom Punks tear open the coffin lid on this fan‑favorite anthem, injecting it with their own electrified, horror‑punk venom and pay homage to the Misfits’ legacy without ever losing their own identity.
“Vampira has always been a Goth Queen, a symbol of outsider power, camp, and eerie glamour,” says bassist Phantom 1. “As a Femme-Fronted Horror Punk band, we put our own spin on the song and releasing this cover on the anniversary of Plan 9 felt like the perfect way to honor her legacy and celebrate the Queen.”
The release marks another milestone in what is shaping up to be a massive year for the Phantom Punks, as they continue expanding their horror‑punk universe and preparing for their upcoming international shows.
“Vampira” will be available on all major streaming platforms on the anniversary date of Plan 9 from Outer Space, Wednesday July 22.
