INCLUDING THE 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR
‘HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS’ HOMECOMING SHOW
AT NEW CENTURY HALL, MANCHESTER
| 45 years since their formation, and after a hugely successful 2025 run of shows, CHAMELEONS are thrilled to head out on a new series of dates for 2026. In October and December, CHAMELEONS will be heading back out on the road for seven shows across the country, including the 12th anniversary of their ‘HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS’ annual homecoming shows. The Middleton post/punk band’s third major tour in as many years follows a triumphant series of UK performances that have seen them travel the country to packed houses. After kicking things off at SWG3 in Glasgow on 20th October, the cult band will take to the stage in Leeds, Bristol, London and Southampton throughout the month. They’ll be joined on the road by very special guest, Lol Tolhurst who will be playing ‘The Songs of The Cure’, which sees the founding band member performing early and seminal songs from The Cure’s catalogue in a sensational live show. These performances are a way for the founding member to revisit his extensive history with the band, which shaped the sound of their post-punk and goth-era music before his departure. Later in the year, Chameleons take their legendary pre-Christmas homecoming show to a new home on the 4th and 5th of December. After bringing the ‘HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS…’ show to Manchester Albert Hall for the last two years, Chameleons are now set to headline two nights at the beautifully restored 1300-capacity venue and food hall, New Century Hall, for their 2026 outing. The very special homecoming dates will mark the 12th anniversary in this series of shows, and will see Chameleons accompanied by some very special guests. On the first night, Friday 5th December, the band will be joined by fellow Mancunians Kahula on support, as well as Very Special Guests Mansfield new wave heroes B-Movie, best known for the trio of synth-led singles ‘Remembrance Day’, ‘Marilyn Dreams’ & ‘Nowhere Girl’. On the following night, the ethereal Evi Vine takes on the opening slot, alongside very special guests Kitchens of Distinction’s frontman Patrick Fitzgerald and the Manchester Camerata who will bring strings to the show. Andy Woods (Smile / Unknown Pleasures) will be hosting an after party downstairs at New Century Hall from 11pm-1am on both Friday and Saturday, with free entry for ticketholders. Weekend tickets will be available, and will be accompanied by (as is tradition) a souvenir laminate and lanyard which attendees can collect from the official merchandise stall on Friday December 4th, after doors open. * * * * * * Chameleons’ are: Vox (bass/vocals), Reg Smithies (guitar), Todd Demma (drums), Danny Ashbury (keyboards) and Stephen Rice (guitar). | * * * * * * Formed in Greater Manchester in 1981 by singer and bassist VOX, Chameleons have remained one of the city’s most revered bands among musos ever since their inception. With notable fans including the likes of Noel Gallgher to Interpol, The Charlatans to Moby, their music has been passed down through the generations like an elixir of eternal inspiration. And here in 2025, a growing fandom of their immense canon sees Chameleons finding immortality as something of a cult phenomenon. With their dedicated advocates finding awe in the “sonic cathedrals” in which they have constructed over the past four decades, Chameleons have released five iconic studio albums (‘Script of the Bridge’ (1983), ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically’(1985), ‘Strange Times’(1986), ‘Why Call It Anything’ (2001)) and Arctic Moon (2025), plus many Peel sessions, live records, compilations and an EP (‘Tony Fletcher Walked on Water…. La La La La La-La La-La-La’ (1990)). Shimmering, shadowy, and shrouded in deepest mysteries, their distinctive and towering post-punk songs sound as vital today as the moment they were built. Acknowledging their supporters with an annual homecoming, a typically breathtaking pre-Christmas celebration of their music entitled ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’, demand for the Chameleons on the live stage has surged to all time high.
