One of the many things that sets Maid of Stone Festival apart from so many other events isn’t just the incredible line-up of bands—it’s the complete festival experience, and that includes the food. While the music rightly takes centre stage, anyone who spent the weekend at Mote Park will tell you that the catering was every bit as impressive as the entertainment. This year saw the welcome return of several fan-favourite food vendors, something that festival-goers had been hoping for ever since last year’s event came to a close. Judging by the smiles, the queues and the countless conversations around the site, people were genuinely grateful to festival organiser Chris Wright and his dedicated team for listening to the fans and bringing back many of the vendors everyone had missed. It was another example of how Maid of Stone continues to evolve while never losing sight of what makes the festival so special—listening to its community.
For me, there was one stand that I couldn’t wait to see again. The moment I spotted Bollywood Box, I knew exactly where my first meal of the weekend was coming from. Their incredible Indian street food was every bit as good as I remembered, bursting with flavour, freshly prepared and packed with generous portions that offered fantastic value for money. Whether it was a perfectly spiced curry, fragrant rice, crispy sides every meal was cooked with real care and attention. It wasn’t just me who thought so either. Throughout the entire weekend there always seemed to be a steady stream of hungry festival-goers making their way towards Bollywood Box, with queues forming at almost every meal time. Watching people return again and again said everything you needed to know about the quality of the food.

When festival fans willingly go back to the same vendor over the course of three days despite having plenty of other choices available, you know they’ve found something special. Bollywood Box wasn’t simply serving food—they were creating one of the highlights of the weekend, giving people the fuel they needed before heading back to another fantastic run of live bands. It became a meeting point for friends, a place where people chatted about the music while enjoying some of the best food available anywhere on the festival circuit.

That said, it would be unfair to single out just one vendor because the overall standard of catering across the festival was exceptional. Whether you fancied burgers, pizzas, loaded fries, barbecue, noodles, vegetarian dishes, sweet treats or something a little different, there really was something for everyone. Every vendor appeared busy throughout the weekend, yet service remained friendly, efficient and welcoming, helping to keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.
Festivals are about creating memories, and while the bands provide the soundtrack, great food plays a huge part in the overall experience. Maid of Stone once again proved that it understands exactly what its audience wants. Chris Wright and his entire team deserve enormous credit for bringing back many of the festival favourites while maintaining such a high standard across every food outlet on site. Combined with world-class music, a friendly atmosphere and outstanding organisation, the superb food offering was yet another reason why Maid of Stone continues to establish itself as one of the UK’s very best rock festivals.
