Review by Smudge smith
I could have sworn I have reviewed this band before but apparently not however their name is very familiar to me. Crushing out of Barcelona this quartet go from proper classic rock through psych and a bit of alt metal with lashings of catchy melodies.
Opener ‘Unheard’ definitely will be. It sets you up nicely with some chinky guitar lines before they blast into a solid classic rocker that reeks of the 70’s. There’s a dual vocal thing going on w2hich reminds me The Sweet when they do their own stuff. ‘Falling Apart’ brings the alt with a touch of the south before the title track goes rolling along into some twin guitar Wishbone Ash/Thin Lizzy territory before it settles into a bluesy romp. ‘Absence’ brings some psych/blues then the acoustic comes out for the 90 seconds of ‘About You’. ‘So Long’ returns to the heavy rock and gets the head nodding and the toes tapping before more alt rock on ‘Self Told Lies’ and the real rock of ‘No Questions’ which could have come off any NWOBHM album, but the vocals have a remarkable similarity to Michael Brown from Aussie alt rockers Tracer. The acoustic comes back for ‘Opus One’ before the 70’s rock of ‘Up For The Ride’ and the easy blues of ‘Drifting’. ‘Words Of Doom’ yeah it’s doomy and final cut ‘A Strange Mix Of Humans’ is an acoustic widdle with some spoken word over the top.
This is good. It has a live feel and every song is different. Just one of those albums that you can dip into or play all at once. It’s got huge warm sounds, and the songs are well written with nothing flash going on. Quality rock music of all kinds from a quality rock band. No pretensions and no delusions just great music. Thank you Saturna.
