A Jace Media Music Review
Illinois’ metalcore provocateurs VCTMS return with a scorched-earth single, “devil’s/speak”, a dark, aggressive collision of nu-metal and metalcore that hits like a fist through glass. From the opening riff, the track channels raw intensity and vengeful energy, confronting betrayal head-on while leaving the past dead and buried. It’s a visceral, cathartic release for anyone fuelled by anger and heartbreak.
Adding another layer of intensity, Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake steps in with a blistering guest performance, injecting an “all gas, no brakes” energy that carries the track from start to finish. VCTMS blend crushing riffs with hip-hop-tinged grooves, industrial textures, and relentless hooks, making the song as mosh-pit ready as it is emotionally resonant. The one-liner chorus lands hard, ensuring it stays lodged in your head long after the track ends.
True to their Illinois roots, VCTMS deliver chaos, melancholy, and aggression with a precision few can match, proving that their sound remains devastatingly relevant while evolving with each release. “Devil’s Speak” is a perfect showcase of the band’s ability to turn pain into unrelenting, groove-driven metal and a taste of what fans can expect from their 2026 output.
