Jonas Bjerre takes listeners somewhere beautifully unexpected with “Hike To The Sun,” a dreamy and emotionally delicate track that marks an exciting new chapter for the former Mew frontman.

Released ahead of Hana Korea, Bjerre’s forthcoming soundtrack for the Korean-Danish film, the single is the only vocal track on an otherwise instrumental collection. Featuring Korean artist YeoHee, “Hike To The Sun” feels wonderfully breezy and summery, yet there is a gentle melancholy beneath its surface that gives the song genuine emotional depth.

Written with YeoHee and Frederik Sølberg, the track grew from a guitar figure created by the film’s director before Bjerre developed it into something warmer and more intimate. His decision to introduce strings, choir and a singer-songwriter sensibility creates a striking contrast to the electronic and ambient textures that dominate the wider soundtrack.
