Eternal – Conspiracy Of Warheads: Athens Thrash Comes Out Swinging

There is something refreshing about a band that understands exactly what it wants to sound like. Eternal are not hiding behind layers of studio polish or trying to reinvent thrash metal for the sake of it. On their debut album Conspiracy Of Warheads, the Athens four-piece take the speed, aggression and rebellious spirit of classic 1980s thrash and put their own stamp on it.

Released through Floga Records on 2 October 2026, Conspiracy Of Warheads is a ten-track attack built for volume. The riffs come quickly, the rhythm section keeps everything moving and the twin-guitar approach gives the album plenty of bite. Yet beneath the speed is a clear sense of purpose. These songs deal with war, manipulation, conformity, violence, reckless behaviour and psychological pressure, giving the record something more to say than simply “play fast and loud.”

Eternal formed in Athens in 2022 and have spent the years since building their reputation on stage, sharing bills with names including Suicidal Angels, Amken, Karma Violens, Among Ruins, Gehennah, Terrorhammer, Biocancer and Typhus. That live background matters. Conspiracy Of Warheads has the compact arrangements and immediate impact of a band that knows songs have to work when the amps are turned up and a crowd is standing in front of them. A 2024 Athens Extreme Festival report also highlighted the group’s energy and interaction with the audience, while noting their clear Bay Area and Central Florida thrash influences. That live DNA is all over this record.

The album opens with “My Way Or No Way,” a suitably uncompromising introduction. Eternal waste little time getting to the riffs, and the song establishes the direct approach that runs throughout the record. “Man Down (In The Front Row)” then brings the chaos closer to home. The track captures the sweaty, noisy reality of live music, from crowded rooms and huge amplifiers to late nights and the consequences that can follow. It is a good reminder that Eternal are writing from experience rather than simply borrowing imagery from the genre.

“Beware…” keeps the pressure high before “Bloodspill” arrives with a track already familiar to listeners who have followed the band since its earlier releases. Originally released in 2025, it has been given a new home within the album and makes sense as part of the bigger picture. Both tracks show how Eternal have developed their material through live performance and continued writing.

Then comes “Adrenaline Rush,” a title that could hardly be more appropriate. This is thrash doing what thrash does best: pushing forward, keeping the tempo high and making it difficult to sit still. “Theatre Of Thrash” adds a playful touch to the attack, including the theatrical flavour of its introduction, before the album reaches its central statement with “Conspiracy Of Warheads.”

It is an anti-war song aimed at the narratives used by governments and military powers to justify conflict while remaining distant from its human cost. Eternal do not bury that message beneath complicated language. Their writing is direct, and the music matches the subject with urgency. The result is a track that feels firmly rooted in the tradition of socially aware thrash while belonging to a band dealing with the world around them now.

“Fake Reality” continues the album’s interest in distorted perception and social pressure, while “Madman’s Playroom” closes the record with another burst of aggression. Across the ten songs, Eternal keep the arrangements tight rather than allowing the album to become bloated.

The production also deserves attention. Eternal produced the album themselves, with guitars and bass recorded at Avra Studios, drums at George Ziotas’ Studio and vocals at Symbolic P Studio. Costas “Naberius” Papadopoulos handled the mix, while mastering came from Nasos Nomikos at VU Productions Mastering Studios, whose credits include Annihilator, Warlord, Rotting Christ and Beast in Black. Marcelo at DOD Illustrations provides the artwork, completing an old-school visual identity.

The DNA of classic thrash is obvious, and listeners familiar with Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, Voivod, Havok and Suicidal Angels will understand the territory quickly. But Conspiracy Of Warheads works because Eternal play these sounds with conviction rather than treating them as a costume.

The guitars are sharp without losing weight, while the bass and drums give the songs a solid foundation, allowing the riffs to stay clear even when the pace becomes relentless.

For a debut, this is a confident introduction from a young Athens band with plenty of energy, strong live instincts and a clear understanding of what they want to deliver. Conspiracy Of Warheads is fast, aggressive, politically charged and made for the stage. Eternal are not simply looking backwards at thrash metal’s golden era; they are taking its attitude and carrying it into their own time.
