Morgan Dealie Wade aka Morgan Wade is a singer / songwriter / guitarist from Floyd, Virginia who has been active since 2018. Morgan has been setting the country world on fire with her thought provoking lyrics and soulful vocals that gave us her self released Puppets With My Heart in 2018, following on from that fantastic album came Reckless in 2021. Morgan really stepped into the spotlight with her groundbreaking album Psychopath in 2023 which was hailed by many as one of the best albums of 2023, on the 16th August Morgan brought us her most personal album to date in the form of Obsessed, Morgan has been busy in the studio writing and recording her new album The Party Is Over which I will be reviewing for you today, please get comfy as we delve into the deeply personal mind of the incredible Morgan Wade.
The Party Is Over – A sizzling, raspy guitar brings the track to our attention as Morgan leans in and lets her soulful, melodic vocals take the track off down the road. The rhythm section is hitting us with a punchy snare drum beat as the bass kicks let the tone wrap itself around the highly emotional arrangement as the funking bassline drops mesmerising grooves as the track builds with a punchy tone that really lets us know that Morgan is back with a bang, the lyrics really catch your attention as the cool snare drum beats combine well with the crunching country style guitar licks that are getting the track all revved up as the tone, depth and musicality really let this track grab your imagination.
Let Us Down – A mellow, soulful guitar riff wanders freely through the intro as cool keys bring the track to us with a sweet, mellow beat that gives Morgan passage to really let the vocals tell us what want to know. The rhythm section is commanding the room with it’s punchy, full on beats that work so well with the crisp, clean guitar licks that are working their way through the track, the bassline is again dropping in and hitting us with a real dark, delicious tone that really gives the track depth, emotion and bags of swagger as Morgan;s incredible vocals take the track onwards as the gritty guitar licks let the track breathe. The tempo changes pace as the groove dips a little to allow Morgan to really drive the lyrics onwards as this foot stamping rock n roll track opens lets us feel the tone which is just on the money.
East Coast – Acoustic strumming chords let the track open as Morgan’s incredible vocals let the track unfold as we get a funk laden bassline to give the track depth as we flow along with the delicious beat. The cool lap really elevate the direction of this soul searching arrangement as we get Hammond style keys that are littered throughout the composition as we get lost in the sensual groove that is hitting us right now, the sweetness oozing from the track just allows us to love this musician even more as she wears her heart on her sleeve for sure as she really delves deep into her emotion filled thoughts and feelings that just make this a go to track.
Roses – Sweet, crisp lap steel tones wander freely from this punchy, well crafted track that just showcases the incredible vocals that are flowing from the arrangement. We are getting the best of this incredible musician as this is a real thought provoking album that really pushes the boundaries of this artist as she really gives us everything we have asked from her, the musicality is just incredible as we welcome a cool, sweet guitar lick that just wraps itself around the deep punchy bass kicks that are joined by a full on snare drum beat that gets the track moving as we listen with intense feeling as Morgan just wanders effortlessly through our minds with her stirring thoughts.
Left Me Behind – This is a real mellow tones track that brings the rhythm section front and centre as the piano tones linger as the track tells us a real story as Morgan lifts the emotion from the song. The sweet backing vocals really take the song to another place as we just listen to the thoughts and ideas from this real exciting musician, the bassline is oozing with dark, brooding tones that really let this track breathe as the musicianship is just shining through as the track just delivers immense tones that let the vocals drive right through the arrangement as Morgan just elevates herself with the tone, depth and thought provoking lyrics that are being laid before us. The killer lap steel tones are just giving the track depth to really deliver a killer melody that lets Morgan deliver incredible vocals that really work.
Candy From Strangers – A rip roaring guitar riff erupts as the rhythm section comes at us with a fast, furious groove that lets the groove open as Morgan leans in with her awesome vocals. The funk laden bassline drops in with a cool, dark beat that just wraps itself around this punchy arrangement, there is a real country, blues vibe flowing through the track as the cool piano tones drive the track onwards as we stamp our feet to this slick, rocking groove. The sizzling, crisp guitar solo slides in and really ups the tempo of this sassy, rocking track as bass kicks let the rhythm section drive the track onwards, the vocals are just lifting the tone of the record as Morgan has never sounded better in my opinion as this is a real personal, thought provoking album that means so much to her.
Parking Garage – Acoustic strumming chordes bring this track to our attention as the snare drum punches fill the air as the sultry, dark groove really lets the track sing. The piano tones work so well with the arrangement as we just lose ourselves with the depth of the lyrics that are pouring through this album, the cool, mellow beat is just incredible as we really get to know Morgan as she pours her heart and soul into every track. The composition brings a sweet, cool stringed section to the piece as it elevates the music tenfold, the killer backing vocals really let the track move on as a dark, mellow bassline comes in and really lets the tone weave it’s way through this fantastic number as we get incredible vocals that really work.
Songs I Won’t Remember – Piano tones combine with banjo strings as the Hammond keys make themselves known to us as this toe tapping dark arrangement really flows through the intro. The rhythm section is coming in with a solid snare drum groove as the cymbal snaps allow the tone to build as a cool guitar riff gets the track running freely as we allow ourselves to get lost in the sultry, melodic beats that are coming at us. The sweet, crisp tones that accompany us on this journey are just incredible as I think this is Morgan’s finest work to date, again only my opinion, the tempo changes pace a few times during the track as we get lap steel tones that are working alongside cool, slick guitar riffs that get the track all up and at our attention.
High In Your Apartment – A cool, dark bass kick brings this track to us as the cymbal taps let the tone build as Morgan leans in and lets her smouldering vocals let the track cut loose. We have a full on bassline that is handing us epic grooves that just give this track a real swagger tone that tells us that this rock style ballad is a real winner, the lyrics are just so personal and let us feel what is going on inside Morgan’s thoughts as the killer guitar licks really give the track a nice edge as the tempo changes pace for a bit. The whole album is a killer from start to finish as she really delves deep into her emotions and tells us that she is vulnerable but ready to take on the world and conquer all that stand in her way, the crisp guitar licks are really giving the track a raunchy groove that just erupts as Morgan lets her incredible, soulful vocals tell the story.
Stay – Finishing off this incredible album comes snare drum brushes that just let the rhythm section lead the way in this soulful, bluesy laden number that lets the Hammond style keys flow through the intro. Morgan comes in with her incredible vocals that just elevate the track to another place as we tap our way through this real personal number as we feel the energy oozing from every note, the beat is a real country, blues affair as we allow ourselves to get lost in the vibe that comes with the slick, guitar tones as they work alongside mellow keys that really grab your attention as we lose ourselves in the tone that is coming from this real cool froove that is the perfect way to finish of this phenomenal album.
Hardwood Floor – A sweet mellow ballad style vocal oozes from the intro as Morgan brings her powering vocals to our attention as this deep, emotion filled number comes our way. Lap steel tones are littered throughout the arrangement as we let the cool piano notes let the track work it’s magic as we allow ourselves to get lost in this powerful number that shows us the vulnerable side to this incredible musician as she lays herself bare for all to hear. The cymbal rolls really add depth to this fantastic track as we let the lyrics wrap themselves around us as Morgan lets herself go and tells us she is ok but just wanted to tell us how she really feels, a nice mellow way to finish off this stylish, polished, country, blues album that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
