MASON – Hanging By A Thread: Melodic Rock With a Need for Speed

MASON comes charging back with Hanging By A Thread, another slice of driving melodic rock from the forthcoming album Edge Of Destruction, due September 25 through Eonian Records.

Originally recorded and partially demoed during the Seconds To Impact sessions, the song was given a new lease of life when Marcus Mason revisited it, wanting more faster BPM material alongside tracks such as Living By A Heartbeat and What You Need From Me.

The memorable opening guitar riff is the spark that reignites the whole track. From there, Hanging By A Thread pushes forward with muscular guitars, shimmering keyboards and a determined vocal performance. Recent coverage has highlighted the song’s Survivor and Foreigner-flavoured keyboard work alongside its Y&T-style guitar power, which fits the track’s classic AOR character.

Lyrically centred on being on the edge, the charging anthem carries the spirit of Eye Of The Tiger without simply copying it. This is MASON doing what MASON does best: big hooks, big guitars and melodic rock built to get the pulse racing.
