Monoliyth – He Who Kills – Single Review – blackroos

Review By Darren McIntyre

Monoliyth are a death metal outfit from Melbourne, Australia who formed in 1998 and who’s intensity & passion for extreme music has remained consistant throughout their catalogue & live shows. The boys have given us Cosmic Citizens EP in 1998, Full Attack Demo in 2005, Imminent Demise LP in 2007, Excised Unborn single in 2025 & the boys return with their killer new album He Who Kills on August 22nd, from that comes track of the same name He Who Kills which I will be reviewing for you today.

He Who Kills – From the off we get a thundering cymbal crash that welcomes a speed filled double bass kick and impending snare drum beat that just allows this monster to explode from the off. The growling, dark, melodic vocals flow effortlessly through this crunching beast as the tempo changes pace several times through the arrangement as it gives us an insight into the twisted minds of this Melbourne 5 piece, the slick, clean guitar licks are easing their way through this thundering, dark arrangement as the pounding rhythm section controls the groove all the way through this epic composition as it ramps up the intense tone that is weaving it’s way through the track. The arrangement is a fast paced, gritty rock anthem that will just blow your mind as the crunching riffs combine with the powering speed drenched beats that are dripping from the drum kit as we feel the energy oozing from the boys as they tear through this kick ass slab of death metal.
