Review By Darren McIntyre
Mason Hill are a hard-rocking 5-piece band originally from Glasgow, Scotland, who originally formed in 2105. The boys delivered their debut EP, Mason Hill, in 2015 and followed that with an acoustic EP, Unplugged, in 2020 and then delivered us their debut LP, Against The Wall, in 2021. The boys have been busy writing and recording and dealing with the departure of vocalist Scott Taylor. They have been busy behind the scenes recording and honing their new, heavier, darker side and have recruited new vocalist Tom Ward to the fold. The boys bring us their blistering new single, Remember, which I will be reviewing for you today, so please sit back and prepare yourself to rock out with this new offering.
Remember – A dark, brooding guitar riff flows freely through the intro as the pounding rhythm section leans in and hits us with a thundering double bass kick that lets the snare drums rain down on us as this soaring beast comes to life. The sludgy, melodic vocals flow into the track as this sampler-driven beast builds and builds as the boys take their sound in a darker direction, which brings a heavier tone that really suits the arrangement. We have a real pounding, guitar-driven track that really pops as the tone comes at us with all it has and really tells us that the boys have really put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this punchy, melodic piece that just grabs your attention as it kicks in the doors and really grabs your attention. The tone is a real crunching groove that is coupled with searing guitar work that is followed by a dark, delicious bassline that wraps itself around you and won’t let you leave.
