Review By Darren McIntyre
Joel Hoekstra is a musician/guitarist/composer and has played with some of the big hitters in the rock world: Whitesnake, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Revolution Saints, Cher, Night Ranger, Foreigner & Accept fill-ins, and the Broadway show Rock Of Ages. Joel has been hard at work in the studio bringing us Joel Hoekstra’s 13’s 4th album, From The Fade. Joel has enlisted the services of Girish Pradhan to belt out the vocals on the new track Lifeline, and Girish will be backed up by a who’s who in the music world. The new record drops on the 27th February, and Lifeline is taken from that soon-to-be-released album. Please join me as I walk us through this glittering new single.
guitars andLifeline – The track erupts into life with a real cool bellowing vocal that really lets the track breath as the pounding rhythm section leans in with a solid snare drum punch that lets the bass kicks control the direction of this thundering new release. The dark, brooding bassline is wrapping itself around this foot stomping groover as the boys set out their stall and quietly go about their business, the searing guitar licks really let the track grow as the rasping, melodic vocals really give the track an edgy, rocking groove. The pounding drums are letting the track do its thing as the cool keys linger in the background as the track peels back the layers as we get rasping guitars, soaring, gritty vocals that are wrapped in a pounding rhythm section that really gives the track heat as Joel steps forward and offloads with a crisp, clean shredding solo that is on the money. The track is building momentum as the boys shift through the gears and really give it all they have in this feel good rocker track that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
