Review By Darren McIntyre
Transatlantic Radio is an international supergroup that was conceived during the isolation of the 2020 lockdown that brought together a truly classic celebration of some of the finest musicians on offer today. Victor Broden stated that the completion of this album is a love letter to the music that shaped my life, musically & otherwise, an inspired celebration of classic AOR with a fresh modern pulse. Midnight Transmission marks the official album debut of Transatlantic Radio. The project of this truly international band was the idea of the Swedish-born bassist & producer; the album is packed with arena-ready anthems, so please sit back and ready yourself for the ride of your life as the album Midnight Transmission drops on 20th February. To celebrate the album, the boys give us the single City Of Angels, which I will be bringing you today.
City Of Angels – A shredding, power-ravaged guitar riff erupts from the off as this toe-tapping rock ‘n’ roller grabs our attention from the first note as a cowbell rings out and lets the boys do their thing. The snare drum punches control the direction of this classic AOR track as the slick keys wander freely through the arrangement as the soaring vocals kick in the doors and let the groove come at us with all it has; the cool, dark, meaty bassline is dropping in and giving us a real deep groove that works so well in this incredible piece of music. The boys are giving us a well-crafted, melodic number that just puts a smile on our faces as we feel the energy oozing through the track as the boys shift through the gears and let the tempo do its thing as a classy, crisp guitar solo rumbles through the midsection as the punchy rhythm section leans in and lets the groove hit us with all it has. The fist-pumping melodies really let the track soar as the boys deliver a solid, groovetastic number that tells us that these boys are the real deal with lots more to come, I’m sure. This stellar all-cast line-up brings a plethora of experience to this track, and I am sure we will get stadium-ready hooks and melodies as the new album unfolds.
