Review By Darren McIntyre
Truckfighters are a two-man stoner rock band from Orebro, Sweden, who originally formed in 2001, and like most, they have had a lot of changes in personnel. The boys remain focused on the music, and this has shown with the releases of Gravity in 2005, Phi in 2007, Mania in 2009, Universe in 2014 & V in 2016. Along with the studio albums, the boys have also dropped 3 compilation albums & 4 EPs. After almost 10 years, the boys drop their infectious new single, The Bliss, upon us. To coincide with this new release, the boys have teased us with a new album, Masterflow, slated for release on 10th April. Please sit back and prepare yourself for this trip that will surely expand your senses.
The Bliss – Cool, sludgy, gritty guitar riffs erupt from the intro as the soaring, dark bassline drops in and lets this monster reveal itself with a sonic wave of sounds that just grab our attention. The stoner vocals work well with the arrangement, as they give it depth, body and swagger as this foot-stomping bruiser offloads with cool, melodic tones that put a smile on your face. The whole piece is a well-thought-out, rasping, mellow-toned piece that allows the rhythm section to bring control to the track, as the solid snare/bass punches work well with this gritty groover as the boys allow the tempo to build. The melodies flow extremely well as the groove grabs a hold of us and really gives us a shake as this fist-pumping, gritty rock ‘n’ roll bruiser changes tempo and really brings us a cool, mellow feeling that runs effortlessly through the groove-laden stoner piece that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
