Review By Darren McIntyre
Lita Rossana Ford is a guitarist / singer / songwriter originally from London, England but who now resides in Long Beach, California where she has been based since the age of 7. Lita is probably best known as guitarist fro the all – female outfit The Runaways which she was part of from 1975 through 1979, 1982 sees Lita launch her solo career and bring us debut album Out For Blood which was followed in 1988 by Lita. Lita finished out the 80’s with albums Stiletto, Dangerous Curves & Black which led to Lita taking a lengthy hiatus from 1996 through 2007 to raise her two boys. Lita has given us 9 studio albums and today she returns with her blistering new single Dracula which I will be reviewing for you today.
Dracula – The track kicks off with a real gritty guitar riff that lets our feet do the stomping as the punchy rhythm section leads the track off down the road. Lita lets her melodic vocals take the track onwards as the killer low end dives in and wraps itself around us as this fist pumping groover opens with a real sludgy guitar lick that just allows Lita the room she needs to let this beast grow, the dark, soulful tones come at us and let us know that Lita is giving it her all with this awesome track that has us tapping our toes as we feel the energy pulsing through the arrangement. There is a real soulful groove to the track that will have you reaching for the repeat button for sure as the tempo flows effortlessly through the piece as Lita offloads with a real crisp, meaty guitar lick that accompanies the groove well and allows the track to breathe.
