Cassidy Paris –

Dreadnought Bathgate –

Cassidy delivers an “Ooh La La night of Rock”

”Finish what we Started tour”

Well here goes – Absolutely no sounds like, acts like quotes from me – This is the real deal the “New Sensation” with the “Bittersweet” attitude with her own take in life after 2 huge album releases and countless mind-blowing tours the latest of a few bring the Monsters of rock Cruise with not a care for what is in the past.

Kicking off the set in the replacement venue of “Dreadnought” in Bathgate a suitable venue due to the unfortunate circumstances bestowed on “Bannerman’s” in Edinburgh which has hosted Cassidy in the past – this was the hottest ticket of the weekend in Scotland and “Walking on Fire” from the “New Sensation” album Cassidy dressed in faux police uniform and hat quickly shed her hat and cuffs to deliver a 100 degree start to the proceedings which was quickly followed by an absolutely fabulous ”Wannabe” from latest album “Bittersweet” released last autumn what an attitude of a song and “Stronger” followed as we opened with a triple salvo of energy sapping venom from Cassidy as we fed from one album to the next throughout out as as she strutted her stuff backed by Steve(dad) – guitar, Vinie Tex – the Brazilian pin up – bass and the legend that is the one, the only Pete Newdeck no other on drums – What a quartet – oh and don’t forget “Skippy” the blow up kangaroo sat on stage also.

“Finish what we Started” the headline tour banner song was next to give the “Dreadnought” audience it’s opportunity to flex their vocals as was paramount throughout given this Aussie chicks appeal this side of the world and where home from home is adopting this young rising star which even early on in the set we got an “Aussie Aussie Aussie” chant to warm us up.

“Here I Am” is an absolute blessing of a song sung with such enthusiasm that it’s unimaginable the torment this young lady has gone through on the last year “Here I Am” I feel there is a “Here I Stay” for future reference, 5 songs in and what a kick ass start we have had.

Between songs Cassidy takes time out to thank supporters all over the world, family, friends and musically everyone who has been blessed with her music and the appreciation is returned throughout the 70 minute lung bursting set – I’m convinced there is a battery pack somewhere to charge her up as this gig the “penultimate” of the tour in “Bonnie Scotland” before heading back South and the sun did shine tonight to welcome her.

“Midnight Desire” another raunchy number is delivered before “Butterfly” and “I still think about You” the awesome “Danger Danger” cover gets another outing and is becoming a staple of each visit before we are treated to the awesome “Like I never loved You”.

As we get to the closing songs of the set there is absolutely no drop in the energy from either Cassidy, Steve, Vinnie or Pete the performance has been off the scale.

The legend of the set “Danger” is received tonight as it has in previous outings; it is just one of those everlasting memories of any Cassidy gig with its energy.

“Turn Around” and the fantastic “Nothing left to Lose” which sees Cassidy ask Russ from Fireheart to join the guys for a heartfelt duet which led us to be party to a little game whereby both gave each other a word to ad lib into the set each night – Cassidy had achieved and won most but Russ conquered by getting “Eyebrows” into his chat, Cassidy missing out with “Carburetor”

Penultimate tune and what a belting tune in “Getting Better” sees Cassidy raise the bar again before set closer “Watch the Fire” has us wishing tonight wouldn’t end, but end it had to do.

Cassidy has a tight knit unit to work with the energetic Vinnie and Steve to her left and right holding things together whilst Pete delivered a top drawer drumming experience, all the while all 3 joined with backing vocals throughout.

As an accolade to finish if visits to this Bonnie land were a boomerang we’d hope for it to return as soon as could be.

Cassidy that is now a few times I’ve gotten to write for you and speak with you and it is with pride that on each of your visits you grow with each performance – as I said before you are not to be paraded as previous lead singers/bands you have your own agenda now and the similarities of any influences you staged yourself on stay dormant this will allow you to grow further.

I wholeheartedly look forward to album 3 and what can be achieved with your bright and enthusiastic attitude to never letting the past get you down which was perfectly alluded to post set when chatting.

Until the next time – Adios Gazza. and
