EP – BIG BAD & BACK
REVIEWER – GRAEME WRIGHT

Little Angels are one of my all-time favourite bands but it’s been thirty two years since they released any new music. The band are out on tour in November, and the music world has been eagerly waiting for its first taste of new songs from the band. “This was never in the plan”, the band have admitted but once they got back to rehearsals for the new tour the new material just flowed naturally. So, do the Scarborough boys still cut the mustard or has too much water passed under the bridge? Well worry no more because this EP contains five of the finest Rock songs you will hear all year and it’s as if they’ve never been away.
The easy immediacy of their music is still there in spades, but it’s all been given a modern sounding twist which still retains the appeal of the band in their heyday but can also stand shoulder to shoulder with any current era artist. I loved this record from start to finish, every track is an absolute belter and I’ve found the whole experience to be exhilarating to be honest. Toby Jepson sounds as strong and warm as he did back in the day and the whole band sound tight as a drum as if they’ve never been away.
EP opener ‘All For One’ gets things off to a great start. A huge chorus, triumphant keyboards, soaring guitar work and an amazing vocal immediately grab your attention, and the whole thing is smoking hot right from the offset. Little Angels have always had that perfect Rock sound tinged with a hint of Blues, and ‘Hero’ kicks in like prime era Bon Jovi before it settles into its own groove and hits you with its big chorus and a plethora of kick-ass riffs. ‘Small Town Boys’ is the best song on the entire record, and that’s no mean feat with the quality of material we are hearing on this platter. Triumphant, exhilarating and every inch an arena song, it blew me away on first listen and I’m sure will be a live highlight on the forthcoming tour.

‘You Want Love’ keeps the quality incredibly high with its thunderous back line and male/female twin vocal attack. The final song ‘Raised To The Ground’ sees the band hit their fifth home run of this innings with its swagger and self belief and it’s another rollicking rocking good time. Holy shit, it’s good to have these boys back. This record has turned out to be everything you hoped and dreamed it would be and I for one can’t wait to catch their live shows. Bravo boys….
