Jagwar Twin stuns o2 arena crowd with simple yet striking visuals and vocal performance that captivates from the first note.
Roy Wronski’s alter ego – Jagwar Twin – shot to TikTok virality with his 2023 track Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa), cunningly released on the same day as Wonka; an unaffiliated prequel story to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971).
Now supporting superstars Thirty Seconds To Mars on their Seasons world tour, Jagwar Twin has been stunning audiences from city to city. From the chatter among the crowd at the o2 on the evening, it was clear not many knew Twin before the lights lowered and the show started…but they soon would.
Sitting cross legged in the smoke, with a single lit incense stick, Twin began with The Circle. Featuring a fittingly spiritual flavor, and a vocal delivery that instantly silenced the arena, the track was the perfect start to the eclectic set list. Soon Twin was on his feet, leading the crowd through synchronized waves as they quickly picked up the lyrics to I Like To Party, Great Time To Be Human, Loser and more. Happy Face came out a huge crowd favorite as the ninth song on the set list, beaten only in enthusiasm and cheers by the finale track of Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa).
Both Jagwar Twin’s phenomenal live vocals, showcasing his impressive range from basey low notes to ethereal high notes, and his engaging and friendly crowd work, ensured a half full o2 arena were suitably entertained and hyped for the main act – Mars – to make their appearance.
A highlight for some fans, likely both old and new, was bumping into the artist himself outside the o2 as the crowds left. Friendly and excited to meet and engage with fans, Twin introduced himself as Roy, asked everyone their name and for more information about themselves. All the interactions were captured by Twin’s cinematographer, whom had also captured the energetic Twin’s antics on stage.
Whilst many who attended the show that day likely hadn’t heard of Jagwar Twin when they booked their tickets, they were certainly speaking about him after his set.
Twin’s records are certainly engaging to listen to, but he is a born live performer with visuals and stage presence to rival DPR IAN and Jackson Wang. Twin seems to be going from strength to strength, and fans are eagerly awaiting what the artist produces next.
